  1. I likey these! http://www.starmarinedepot.com/golight-led-stryker-searchlight-wireless-handheld-remote-permanent-mount-black.html
  2. Nom Nom Nom! When you say Cola, any cola or a famous brand of cola? See i find a drop of water in the bottom with the meat sitting it in makes the meat that little bit jucier than without! Usuall turn it over half way though cooking.
  3. I didnt realise you could drop in a standard car engine, do you have to do much adapting?
  4. Found some sites on google, not cheap so stick the norm i guess!
  5. yeah had a look, not really what i am after from what i can see. Must be a website somewhere that shifts them!
  6. Hi, Having just spent a week in a static caravan that had a nifty shower enclosure i thought i would have a look round the web to try and find pricing, can i find one, nope! The kind i am looking for is a double size with 3 plastic walls, the floor and walls are all one piece. It then had a cool door that slid back on itself twice to creat a nice wide opening, although this can be any door that fits the opening! Anyone come across a website that sells these? Cheers Dave
  7. Thats the boat we have in mind, have been looking at routes today.... Thinking down to oxford might be a good chilled one. Thats a good idea, just not sure about our first trip out, maybe the 2nd one though! Are you a Payne also then?
  8. Thanks for the tips, we know of the two company's mentioned, but feel we want a start point a little further away, the oxford sounds good... Looking at Napton narrowboats at the minute if anyone has any dealings with them? Thanks
  9. Evening, We are looking to plan a nice 4 day break on a narrowboat, it will be our first time so ideally a few locks, but not to many, some nice places to eat at the end of the day and some great scenery to take in. We are based in in Nuneaton near Coventry but are willing to travel to the hire company. We are planning for April next year. So, just wondering what recommendations people have for the above criteria? Thanks
  10. My two pennies! I have used various oils in the past in car engines, you must have the correct type of fuel pump, on a car it was the Bosch, anything made by Lucas will end in tears, maybe not at first but give it time and it will go pete tong! I have used Cod liver oil, Evening primrose oil, Shark liver oil, Flaxseed oil and even flavoured oils such as lemon oil, orange oil and fruits of the forest oil... If it had oil it in i would pour it in. In the winter you are advised to mix with Diesel or petrol to thin it out, i have used neat all through the winter of 2011/2012 but only due to commuting 240 miles a day for work, starting the engine was hard, most mornings i had to jump start it. For me it was worth it, i covered over 30k miles in 6 months and would never have been able to afford the fuel, but it caused some issues with my old BMW and in the end did go boom in a big way. Knowing what i know, i would not run a narrowboat engine on the stuff, its just not worth the hassle. Plus it gets everywhere and smells, trying to keep things clean when using oil is not easy! Hope this helps!
  11. nuts! fast fingers and all that, meant CRT. Dead duck then reading though the links!
  12. Evening all, Just wondered if its possible to hire out your NB? I would guess you would have to get some kind of public liability insurance, but if you had this is it ok with the RCT to hire out your NB if you wish?
  13. thanks for all the tips people, i am a long way off from buying yet, but will keep notes and take into account when the time comes!
  14. So i see, 180L on bedazzled, however the cost of those are £19 each, lets say i need 25-30 in total on the boat, £478 - £570. The other option is coming in at £238 - £286 for a 320L. Also guessing as its stromger you would not need as many, plus it gives you the option to chop and change your bulbs in different areas/rooms! Unless i am totally missing something then ita no brainer?
  15. Sorry, when i said power i did mean Lumens, just couldnt remember the word From what i have seen of these narrowboat/campervan/caravan lights they tend to give out about 40 lumen, but a standard home 50w halogen kicks out 400 lumen if i am correct, now i know the space on a narrowboat is less than the average room in a house, but you would need a lot of them to have a bright room. The need for a bright room would not be an everyday need, but i feel it is something you should allow for!
  16. Thanks everyone. The reason for asking is a down to a couple of things, price is a factor also with these type of fittings you can change the bulb to different powers and colours. Plus i am not sure how many of the official narrowboat ones you would need in an area due to them being less powerful. Food for thought!
  17. Hi, Just looking at the 12v lighting available on such sites as Midland Chandlers, 12v LED Downlighters. Is it possible to use these though, but taking the little connector block off and wiring straight into your fuse panel? http://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-fixed-round-low-voltage-downlight-polished-chrome-12v/84046 With these type bulbs?? http://www.ledhut.co.uk/spot-lights/mr16-led-bulbs/mr16-smd-led-20-pice-best-internet-price.html Thanks
  18. They are listing boats on ebay, spotted them the other day and thought about speaking to them reagrds our build as they are close to us! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281147144236?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1009wt_1065
  19. Popped down Whilton yesterday, as you say spent a few hours walking round the marina checking out boats, to be honest it didn't change my mind at all, just made me more determined to get a cruiser stern... Also made me think that buying an empty shell fitting it out ourselves is the way forward, all the boats we saw at the bottom end of the prices were horrible, smelly old ones, and the higher end of the pries didn't seem much better... Also none of them had the layout we want. Thanks for the tips people!
  20. Cruiser stern it will be we think, don't like the idea of being stuck at the rear by myself in the rain whilst wifey gets to keep dry! Think if we go for a 55-60ft with cruiser stern we should get about 40-45ft internal space which should be enough, according to my plans on the post it notes!
  21. Sorry meant to say once i have threw them out the nest! Was thinking cruiser stern to be honest!
  22. Hello everyone, Just wanted to say hi, have been reading the forum as a guest for a while and thought i should join and start asking some newbie questions soon. Myself and wifey plan to purchase an NB in about 3 years, then fit it out and use for weekends/holiday with the hope of living aboard once children have flew the nest... Lots to learn so excuse me if i ask some basic stupid questions. Thanks!
