  2. One of my friends worked for infection control and she used to sit on a ward doctor watching ..just to see how long it took some of them to wash their hands or even use the gel

  5. Perhaps its time this thread closed..... Enjoy your boat Max
  6. Hi Max, Hope alls going Ok..we all let off steam from time to time.. Post when you are ready..I like your posts..its one of the main reasons i come onto this forum. Take Care Patty xx
  7. I think we all want Max to make a success of her choice of living. Because we all feel involved we give out advice. Sometimes perhaps we come over as to critical..but its born out of concern Hopefully Max will start posting again It's good to hear she's still around.
  8. I went through Braunston tunnel many times and all I can say is that you stick to whatever speed you feel comfortable with and can manage boat..as tio him behind...well he should slow down..overtaking in a tunnel to me a no no
  9. I'm not offended just wanted to set the record straight..Like Dyertribe I recognise some of myself in Max and I want her to succeed..ok so she didn't follow advice..but I guess all us stubborn women don't..we knows what to do.
  10. Perhaps you misinterpreted my post...I do not recollect saying I felt sorry for Max..she's doing her best and sometimes despite having a go, doing your best it doesn't turn out quite as it should...Ive bin there, got the T shirt and if I lived nearer and Max wanted some assistance and if I could help, I would go up...Just as I help others I can...for example the knotweed I fight is not actually my knotweed..it is the responsibility of disabled farmer but I've dealt with it because he cannot and if not done it will invade my property.. I never ask anyone to feel sorry for me..nor did I expect it...and I don't think Max wants anyone to feel sorry for her. Max is getting to grips with a world she knew little about...and hopefully the advice on here is helping her. Have a good day
  11. Perhaps some feel there has been over reaction to Max's application of sealant around mushroom vents. I've always been taught to ensure adequate ventilation when using solid fuels...here at the cottage I've even been told not to block all the air gaps(holes). When I saw the photographs I wanted to get in my car and drive up to see if I could help...unfortunately I live an awful long way from where she is situated and ongoing issues here at Horror House have me more or less stuck here fighting a cottage that would prefer to stay in the last century...I am getting there though roof has now decided to ensure damp filters in to allow plaster to jump off the walls and in uncovering part of the roof I find woodworm have had a banquet... The reason I follow this thread is partly because I admire Max's 'have a go attitude' and also I like to know she's still alive and well...
  12. Dear Max, Please ensure you have some ventilation..widow open.. Ive just been told off here at Horror House for blocking up all the draughty bits..old houses need to breathe apparently....I really don't think myself old houses need the amount of holes this one had. I'm also sure I don't need the old stone work falling down the old chimney..thats staying blocked cos where stone can fall I'm sure Roland Rat will visit. I didn't think they would notice..they did and I now have fresh air breezing through.. Take care Patty

  14. I had family legal insurance on my home policy and despite being in the right they would not take on my case..I ended up with the help of a friend researching law and taking them on myself..I was vindicated but did not receive ££..remember you don't get full costs awarded. Im going through another injustice ATM and again although I have all the evidence I'm not going to benefit financially. Perhaps it does work for some..they gave advice over the phone but the leg work I did. It would be interesting to know if anyone has actually benefitted from home insurance legal help. On another note... Yooohooooo Max...U OK?
  15. Good Morning Max I have just updated since my last posting... I am a tad concerned over the mushroom vents but do see why you blocked them...please ensure some ventilation gets into your boat or you and your wonderful companions will be at risk of suffocating... On a dry spell it would be perhaps an idea to try and sort the vents out one at a time as suggested above...perhaps start with one thats not above the bed. As to perceived waste of money..no you didn't..u merely applied temporary protective coating to your boat which will keep her protected over the winter months...I have a cupboard full of similar products used on Horror House..one day I will dispose of them when I am sure there is no part of this property that quite possibly may need another application of something it didn't need in the first place. Most boats list one way or t'other depending on ballast ..I do not think its abnormal but Im sure others can advise better than me. You will get there... Take care Patty
  16. Hi Max..please let someone show you first how to service your engine...I often have a go at stuff and Ive made a pigs ear more times than i care to remember then it costs more to fix. Re electric shaver on portable inverter..again if u mess up it could cost more than £5..wait till those who know about this stuff advise. You are doing so well...when you have these really good ideas wait 24 hours and then see if they are still really good... Take care
  17. At least you've got a sort of plan..thats good If someone shows you oil changing make sure you understand cos wots simples to men sometimes isn't so for us women..I went on an engine course but still didn't feel confident to have a go when I had my boat. Don't go stir crazy...you'll be fine
  18. good glad to see you've filled the form in..hope they soon contact. keep us informed and hope your damp bed has dried.. sleep well
  19. Good morning Max..another day dawns.. I hope you got some sleep eventually
  20. Hey Max I think you do have a spiders nest there...ditch/clean it before u get trillions of youngsters to look after..my sis went walking in her field post one hatching and she plus 4grandchildren got covered..apparently twas horrific....
