Well done Richard, what was the problem in the end?
-
Reciprocating saw with a fine blade 24tpi will cut it easily and you only need to get to one side. I doubt you will get a jigsaw all the way round.
-
Hope you manage to get sorted.
It is not so much the theft, but the wanton damage just for the sake of it that is such a pain.

Diesel and Dust has escaped the clutches of Birmingham. Spotted in Rugby yesterday heading towards Braunston.

Ah! Blocked canal you say, where is Albion, my ramming boat of choice.
Most of them don't travel far enough to get to a lock.
-
Just a load of general rubbish on that occasion if I remember correctly.Apart from a mis-directed whinge there is a bigger question to answer. What did Albion have down their weed hatch one hour before 10pm and why are they not telling us?
The half a pushchair was later!

I think there is a typing error on the name of BrumSaint's boat, the K has been missed off the front and the T should be a B.I think there is a typo on times in Junior's post. You posted about our cracking turn at 9:05pm BST so I reckon you left the basin just before 9pm. As we both had to wait at the top for the Fire Brigade to finish pulling headless [1] dummies out you probably hit top lock at 7:55pm not 8:55pm. Leaving the basin at around 9pm would also tally with getting to Ocker Hill at 11pm, that has to be a two hour journey (cursing now that I did not "photocopy" our score sheets)
[1] Exactly what did you have in your weedhatch?
Albion left the basin at 2100hrs.

Emap provide dedicated canal mapping apps for phones and IPads

Sabotage attempt! That was a "Racing Incident"

Cruisers are ok, it's the Frigates that are too quick!

There are good aromas coming from the kitchen.
Mrs Miggins is building the "Team Albion" lasagne.

Anyone know the nearest elsan point to Gas street basin?
Yes, we need to be as light as possible so we don't drag the bottom!!

But the roving enforcement officer revoke the licence when the tag is found to not be on the vessel to which it is allocated.
Plus a van travelling at 4mph may draw attention of other agencies!
-
Don't be surprised when your licence arrives with a transponder attached.
Job done, keep moving or the computer will generate the fine.

Probably worth talking to Karen at Tradline, Braunston

I have never had a problem contacting the real Thorneycroft.

Junior is rarely on the boat in locks, most of the time he is bow hauling........... Sorry mate, couldn't resist!

That's all good news and the correct time of year for a resurrection!
Enjoy your journey, I assume you are travelling up the Oxford canal to Coventry which is a great trip, plenty of interesting places and pubs to visit.

If you are going onto the tidal Thames, put it on the beach at high water.
-
But that is just typical of their attitude, rip off the canal boating community to the tune of £180000 and then act as if nothing has happened.

I have made an expansion tank for the cooling water on my Thorneycroft engine.
The engine employs the usual skin tank with a header tank forming part of the exhaust manifold.
The only available expansion on the system is via the radiator cap on the header tank. This vents to the bilge and therefore any coolant expansion is lost.
I shall install the expansion tank above the engine and connect to the overflow pipe on the header tank. Fit the pressure cap to the expansion tank and a blanking cap to the header tank. This should ensure that the header tank remains completely filled with coolant and the bilge remains dry.

Sumps are ok, you just need to do a bit of maintenance and cleaning occasionally.
-
Not a totally wasted effort then.

Ah! Mainlining Meths, now that is hardcore!
which flowers would you recommend for the roof of my boat

None, it's a boat not a garden.
