  1. Well, that's been a hectic couple of weeks.

It has been hard work but a real pleasure to work on such a quality boat.

I have kept Junior busy, scooting all over the place to collect parts and materials.

A big thank you to Penny of Barby Moorings for her general forbearance whilst we have carried out the project and especially for her skills with the back hoe of her JCB whilst lifting in the tanks.

The boat is looking great, Matty40's painting is superb, Kadian Engineering's tanks are excellent and the sign writing, a work of art!

There are a few jobs still to do and some snagging as is always the case with this sort of project, but, generally it has gone well.

Oh, finally, thanks to Kevin of Midland Canal Services for the loan of his 36" Stilsons!

  2. Neal, if you wish to maintain the watertight integrity, use 15mm tank connectors that have been bored to allow the tube to pass right through. You can then just nip up the fitting to give you a watertight bulkhead without a joint in the tube.

Give me a shout if you want me to bore the fittings for you.

  3. Buying fuel will be an issue on the canals, petrol is virtually unobtainium.

You do realise that to licence it you must have a BSS (Boat Safety Scheme) Certificate which is provided by a surveyor after he has checked the safety of the fuel system, electrics and gas system.

You will then need to have it insured.

    Nice fit Out!
  4. Small vessels, especially glass fibre or wood are extremely difficult to see on a busy radar plot.

In crowded water like that the skipper would have been well advised to anchor and await better conditions.

I bet he now wishes he had done!

  5. The thing that is most annoying is the boat failed on its breather the examiner owns a chandlery and didn't think to mention that he has the required parts on his shelf which he could bring with him when he charged another £20 to re test apon returning.

Nope we won't be using that examiner again.

Failed on it's breather........the boat was obviously full of hot air!
