OK, I am liking a couple of things on day 2 - BUT I REALLY AM NOT SURE ABOUT THE HEELS
and I definitely don't understand the trousers falling out with the top of the sock situation
-
I was a bit surprised (and I don't know why really in this day and age) but these are printed in China. Have we no printers in this country?
-
I have a copy which is 2012 and it is called Pryles Bridge.
-
Define "men" please.
I cant do that, there are so many differing types within the species.
-
lol, it scares me to think that these might be in the shops soon. I have never really been a fashion leader and usually end up buying stuff that may have been in fash for some time (usually just as its going out of date) but I really cannot see my hubby wearing this lot.
-
Are there any men out there that would wear these?

the Fossdyke is closed due to high water at Torksey Lock which is shut

Yes
If you read the VOA blurb I posted It says that if a boat is permanently moored, the boat owner pays the CT, if the boat moves off, comes back, moves off then the mooring owner pays the CT.
The mooring owners are a business and not a charity they will therfore pass on that cost to you, You then have the choice to stay 24/7 on the mooring, or go cruising knowing there is a residential mooring available whenever you decide to go back.
If you live in a house and go on holiday for a month you still pay CT
I dont understand the problem.
You live on your boat
You have a residential mooring
You pay CT
There is not a problem. However, as your blurb, as you call it, says, I am already paying ct as this has been passed on to me by the marina, which I understand is not a charity, so why would I have to pay it again? If the marina reduces my fees by the ct amount and then I pay it separately to the Council, then ok however, I do not want to be paying it twice.
Secondly, I am not on a residential mooring. I am on a leisure mooring but have secured that mooring for 12 months.(I am actually paying ct through my house at the moment but once sold, the boat will be my main residence) I wont be moored continually at the marina for 12 months as I will be out cruising but it is there for when I return so in effect, not actually residing on said mooring.
I have also stated that I would not have a problem in paying ct if I had to, so no problem but not as clear cut as you seem to be saying unless I am missing something somewhere.
-
mmm, I have a feeling that it will have a knock on effect. They are not just going to let boaters like me, who live on the boat, willing to pay for a years mooring but not necessarily staying full time in the marina, not pay ct. (If I have to pay then I have to pay, I wont break the law) but in the end, it will force people like me out more and the marina will either end up empty (or a third full) and out of pocket or the marina will just become an estate on water, full of non moving liveaboards.
-
having a bona fide mailing address and, the CT is relatively cheap.
I know for sure that the mooring fees for the residential will be on top of what you already pay. The figure I'm aware of is in the region of £150.00 a year extra. It will be necessary to take out a years contract.
But I don't need an address and don't want to tie myself down for 12 months, I want to be out on the canal which is what my boat is for, but I live on my boat but don't want to cc, so need a base (which is why I am paying hefty mooring fees, and apart from an address, why do I need to pay an extra 150 quid
-
Just a question - if I am in a marina, how do I benefit from what I am paying ct for? rubbish collection - (paid for in my mooring fees) - street lighting - got none,
I know we would get the benefit of fire/police etc service so maybe there is a payment requirement there - but I am already paying quite a hefty fee for my mooring and facilities. Do the marina have to pay CT and is there a proportion of that which is offset in the mooring fees?
Not sure, maybe someone can answer that for me

Bettie Boo - is that a 40 foot Samsung tv? that's one mighty big tv )
even if its 40" , that is still a big one

I am all for charity stunts (organised and planned properly) but this was just plain stupid. He has put himself in hospital, with family at home to support. And to do something like this after a belly full of beer is not funny or good. Landing in the water might not have been any better.
I do hope that he gets better quickly and plans something for charity properly to raise the money.

well if that is the case, that is so sad to put her family through such pain. If she does have her reasons, and there are many mental issues and reasons why this may be and it is not our position to judge in any way, but I hope that she is ok and can let her family know this. If it is not the case, then there is still pain coming, which ever. so sad.

When I put in missing Elaine in google, the police site says story removed.
It does come up with a story in Skegness news saying that it is thought she might be in Skegness due to having family there. I would have thought that family or friends would have come forward if they have seen her somehow.
Three weeks is a long time for a woman to be missing like this. I hope it ends well.
-
Has there been any developments in this search?. I see that the Police page has been removed

Certainly did not mean it harsh. Apologies if it came across harsh.
It urgently needs reporting if it is blocking the canal and the people to report it to are CRT. Perhaps she does not know that she can report it and therefore, hopefully will now have done so, so that the canal can be cleared for herself and others.
-
Have you reported it to CRT. Not much point just posting it on here and not saying whether you have reported it to the correct authority who would be able to do something about it.

I like "Living on a narrowboat" site as the help and advice that I have been given has been free and useful and they have shown an interest in me and my boat. The articles and forum entries can be amusing, informative and interesting and have been very helpful and very rarely result in adverse comments, "bandwagon jumpers" or rude comments. There can be constructive criticsm and this is put in a positive way, which is usually appreciated too by way of a thanks.
I have never been asked to pay anything and never been asked to donate either.
-
Still thinking about Elaine's family who must be going through hell wondering where she is. ;(
-
Can you explain Bandwagon Jumper please. Is this someone who does not agree with your point of view or thoughts or written points?
-
Thanks Naughty Cal and Bostin01(greenie offered for the explanation). My dad used to have a Barometer but I never took much notice of it then, shame looking back.

Hi Beaker, Bit rough, rain pouring down. Keep having bouts of wind blowing us about all over the place then a bit of a calm.
The roads today were abysmal. I went to Stratford on a day out. The M69 was terrible - blown about all over the place. The M1 was awful with spray (and some idiot drivers - but that's another thread ).
I am just hoping that the wind does not blow my new canopy off. (Thanks to Wilson Covers for getting it fitted before Christmas) - no deliberate plug, just a grateful customer.
