  1. hi my brother in law has recently had this system installed on his boat, he and my sister are live aboards and he says he gets 2 and a half days out of each cassette, he would not go back to a larger holding tank and recons the money saved on pump outs will repay the purchase and instalation costs in 2 years, so theres at least one happy customer
  2. what can i say other than thanks tony
  3. hi yes i have but with no luck
  4. hi folks i wonder if some one could help me with an instalation problem, a while ago i bought a jabsco electric macerator toilet and now im ready to fit in my boat , but for the life of me i cant find the guidance instructions anywhere so i am a bit stuffed. the set comprises the loo with built in macerator that has a pair of wires comming from it that are red and black , a plastic controller box that the touch pad connects to, the controller has 4 wires comming out of its other side ( not counting the wire that connects to the touch pad, thats easy) there is a red and black set designated "power" and a blue and orange set designated "pump" , there is also a water control selonide with two electrical spade fittings on the top, so the question or questions are as follows, how do i wire the dam thing up,.. do i connect the macerator directly to the batts, do i connect the controll box directly to the batts, where in the grand scheme of things do i connect the selonide on the water controll valve, and which is water in and which is water out on the water valve, should it be fused and to what rating, i apoligise if this comes over as a thick question but i have no electrical know how what so ever and i dont want to burn anything out, thanks in anticipation, if i knew how to post photo,s that might assist i would, but i dont. tony
  5. hi dont know much about heaters but "the sound of rushing gas" and "waving lighters around" scares the poop out of me, perhaps for the safety of all concerned you should isolate it and call a corgi guy, better safe than in little bits.
  6. hi from my old army days...for a smooth deep shine finish use some corrugated card soaked in brasso to buff and shine

  8. hi thanks for your input , i will reconsider removing the aldi, tony
  9. hi can anyone tell me how i can calculate the rated kw output of the two rads on my boat, at present they are fed by an aldi comfort boiler but i intend to change that and feed them from my squirel stove with back boiler, the furthest rad is abouht 40 feet from the squirel stove, further more could anyone recommend a corgi registered gas fitter capable of doing a gas instalation on a boat . i am in the tamworth / lichfield area. thanks
  10. hi folks i think i read on a recent thread that a BSS would be abandoned if the examiner found the boat was using refillable gas bottles, i think it has something to do with the possibility of the bottles being overfilled.....others may know more / better. tony
  11. well mored my 62 foot boat along side a 30 foot finger mooring , commenced to unroll hose pipe to top up water tank, walked backwards whilst unrollin, walked backwards of end of finger mooring, sank like a pigging stone only to be greeted by 30 or 40 kids hooting and laughing at my floundering, they were on a school walking discovery trip, they discovered i was a prat !
  12. hi folks as a retired firefighter might i just add one point to the above, please make sure that if (god forbid) it does happen to you, that you keep your safe exit clear and available and dont go beyond your capability, i suppose thats two points, but you know what i mean
  13. hi folks thanks for the positive Gary, as a point of interest what do you think it would cost to build same as described if the butty was say 60ft long and double ended (back same same as front) and the tug proportional with a good sized engine and say a 5 or 6 kw gen, and maybe enough room in the tug for a small workbench and stowage for tools and stuff, i know its not a great description but let you mind wander and as they say "give us a price" (non binding of course) thanks tony
  14. hi folks whilst walking the tow path and enjoying a bit of sunshine today i passd a mored BW tug and acomodation unit, the ones that i think have facilities in them for the bank side workers to make a brew and maybe a have a shower if you know what i mean, any way whilst lookingat it i wondered if it would be possible to have a small tug as the motive provider and the rest of the boat like a caravan only pushed instead of pulled, if you get my drift, your generator, gas bottles, main battery bank ect ect could be in the tug and your living accomodation in a non powered butty, all services fed to the butty via an umbilical from the tug. if you wanted to turn around you would only have to unhitch the tug and reposistion it at the other end of the butty and bobs your uncle your going the other way. i suppose you would still have a water tank on the butty and a pump out toilet tank if you wanted but i think it would be more flexible and addaptable than the current setup, if you wanted to change your boat you could keep the tug as your prime mover and only change the butty .i suppose it would be expensive but who knows it might be the way to go, what do you think
