  1. Hi all, The problem seems to be the points ! The screw that holds the points in place is just spinning. So keeping no tension to hold them in place. What do you all think the best course of action to solve this ? We know we could replace with a bigger screw but is that the best option ? Regards Andrea
  2. The video idea is great. We are going down the marina at the weekend and will do a checklist of what to try and what we have done already. Will keep you informed of it what it was, if we find out ! If not expect an upload of a video. Thank you all for the advice Andrea
  3. Right, well when we start her with the choke out the rattle and vibration is immense. Once heated and the chokes in she settles down, still noisy but you don't have to shout over the sound. Then straight away as u put her under pressure as in any form of revs once in gear the noise and vibration start again. Hope this helps. Many thanks Andrea
  4. Thanks for all your replies and help, will have to suggest them to our mechanic. Still got our fingers crossed it's something simple, like someone said in a previous comment. "Have we left a bag of spanners in there."
  5. Thanks everyone for all your input it's really appreciated. Will have a look around the fuel system and if not that, keep trouble shooting and hope something fixes the problem.
  6. A new condenser was fitted Sunday along with regulating and cleaning the points, new plugs and fresh oil. Hence why we are baffled !
  7. Our mechanic has been firing numbers at us about firing order, but that went straight over my head. He really knows his stuff but has come back baffled ! Also forget to mention checked spring valves and they look in good working order.
  8. Yes, that's the one and it's a points and distributor.
  9. Hi all, A cry out for help again ! Our engine sounds like a bag of spanners and can't find out why. It's a seawolf mk2 petrol. Here's the thing's we've tried, full service, new ignition coil, checked compression which is reading at 125 or above and new ht leads. Please help any advice would be greatly appreciate, we are ment to be going away in 2 and a half week's on her and at the moment, that thought is very bleak. The vibrations are that bad it shakes components of the engine, hence a replacement ignition coil it didn't fair well bouncing around on the z drive. Many thanks in advance Andrea
  10. Thanks for all the info will have a look and give your ideas a try. Sorry about typing error the engine is a seawolf petrol, apparently a waterised Ford cortina engine if this helps. Would the issues mentioned be a contribution to the vibrations we've been experiencing ? Regards Andrea Right so things to check. Points. Plugs. Condenser. And a good service won't do any harm either. Many thanks to everyone
  11. Hi all, I would be grateful for any help. We're nearly at the end of our tether. We have a seawold petrol inboard, we went to take her out on Saturday and she was turning over but not starting. A fellow moorer came over had a quick look and said it seems like the points are out ! Then on Sunday we thought we would try our luck and she started 1st time, after leaving her to run and heat up for about 20mins we decided to take her out for a quick run. Everything seemed fine for the first 10mins then we got in the river and it seemed like she was missing a beat.so put some more revs on and the vibrations was ridiculous we had to shout over it. After that we decided to turn back not to push our luck any further, got back to the marina got to our mooring and before we had chance to jump off and tie up she died ! No matter how much I tried no life nothing. So we're floating around the marina thinking of ways to get back into our mooring, after a few minutes drifting and a good push we got back in. Checked the engine and it looked fine, all wires still intact everything look normal, so couldn't find any answer and decided to call it a day before we pulled our hair out. So here we are 2 days later still can't think why, so please any help or advice would be great. Andrea
  12. Hi, It all depends on what facilities you are looking for. Sawley marina has most in that area, being chandlery, shower blocks, elsan, pumpout, slipway, launderette, good security and the pub on site do a mean fish supper on a Friday night. Unfortunately it will be closing soon but another local just across the road that sell pub grub. Shardlow has about the same but you have to use local caravan site for showers. Redhill basic no security, porter cabin toilet and cafe. Office is rarely open and site can get quite muddy. But owners very friendly and cafe owners you couldn't ask for nicer people. Hope this helps Andrea
  13. Thanks for all the help, starter motor needs servicing. Thankfully a very helpful gent on our jetty came to have a chat, we explained our situation, he said tap here, do this do that. Found the problem within 5 mins. So got to take off and pop it to the local auto electrician. Many thanks and much appreciated for all your help Andrea
  14. Hi all again, We got the new battery this morning, fitted it and no life. On dash meter when turning the key it shows 12v and can hear a click coming from the engine but no life. Any ideas ? Thanks Andrea
  15. Thanks for info will have a look online. Probably be a lot cheaper that way. Andrea
  16. Hi all, Another daft question, but then if you don't ask you'll never know. What kind of starter battery should I use for a seawolf 1.3 petrol. I have just purchased a nauticus 27 and inboards are a new thing for us with our last boat having an outboard. The starter battery we have on her at the mo seems to be on it's way out, not holding charge. So any info would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Andrea
  17. Thank you for all your replies. It does seem they have one but next issue is slipway. Marina think their slipway will be a bit tight to lift her. So going to go for safe option and have her craned. Finally got everything organised(I think) for her move next week, ,fingers crossed it all goes well after 7months without a boat, we've got itchy feet to get back on the water.
  18. Thanks for that, crane it is then, looking at photos on the Web I've not notice them having one but will contact pre owners tomorrow just to double check. I did think everything was running to smooth. Thanks again Andrea
  19. Hi again all bit of a daft question really, but does anyone know if the nauticus 27 has a towing eye. We've just purchased one and recently received an email from transport asking if it has a towing eye. Tried looking on the photos and can't see one as fenders are in the way. Didn't think to look when we viewed it and not wanting to bother previous owners at this time. I know I can get in touch with them tomorrow but bugging not knowing. Thanks in advance Andrea
  20. Yes I've seen that didn't think it would be much help, but as you say it will help with layout. Thanks for the idea Andrea
  21. Her number is 143 she was built middle of 1973 by malcolm thomas plastics. Which I am to believe is the original manufacturer. Any kind of information that could help us would be much appreciated. I have been in touch with a few aluminium companies but had no replies.
  22. Hello all, I'm new to the site and was wondering if anyone was able to help me please. I've just purchesed a nauticus 27 and want to make it as original as possible. We are wanting to start with the aluminium windscreen over the years someone has replace it with a wooden one. Does anybody know of where I can get a replacement or have one manufactured to fit. Been looking all over the web and so far hit a brick wall. So any information would be great. Thanks in advance Andrea
