  1. Thinking of visiting Lincoln in July any trend cruisers got any advice
  2. We too are hoping to visit Lincoln sometime in July. Do they make provisions for extra moorings during the festival or is it first come first served?
  3. Don't know about worst locks but we have noticed that locks with lock keeper(s) in attendance are generally in a far better maintained order than unmanned locks! Can be one pen down or up from manned lock but both paddles and gates are extremely difficult to operate. Yesterday we cruised down Rodley to Lemonroyd and the unmanned locks were definitely backbreaking work. Question - can we assume that the manned locks are maintained on a more regular basis under health and safety for BW employees. If this assumption is correct then us the waterway users should be protected by the same health and safety as visitors to their system?
  4. I am experiencing brown looking hot water? The cold water is crystal clear, anybody any ideas! I believe the calorifier is metal in construction and manufactured in America . Are there any additives that can be used to prevent this, I think it is red rust.
  5. Think of the accumulator as a storage vessel one side has water capacity and the other side as air with the diaphragm separating the two the bigger the vessel the more water you should be able to draw before the pump charges the vessel again. The air side of the vessel is pressurised the higher the pressure the more pressure on the water leaves the vessel I think!
  6. Have you tried plumbworld http://www.plumbworld.co.uk/584-0000 I got an expansion vessel from them for the central heating. Their online shop was very efficient and reasonably priced.
  7. Hi Blackrose dimensions are 58' x 10' 3 inches shell; was built by Price Fellows of Shrewsbury; bowthruster is non-existent at this stage I couldn't afford it, have just fitted propeller and gearbox will will be electric when I've recovered from the cost of the build, if I ever do. Yes the units is in a watertight locker. I know the builder will not be responsible as I took delivery of a bare shell - I am responsible for everything - more's the pity. Yes that is Thinsualate insulation you can see, I have yet to cast judgment on the insulation but I'm not sure it is going to be as favourable as the 3M's Rep (at Crick show last year) suggested it would be. I have noticed even before heating the boat that there are strips of condensation appearing on the outer shell in line with the steel ribs The other thing I have noticed about Thinsulate is that unless it is stuck perfectly flat to the skin of the boat condensation appears behind it. Anyway you know what they say you've made your bed so lie it? Glad you liked the pics. David Stupid me think I've drank too much champagne today I've added wrong Quote
  8. Big day came-- and went - Joamarjayne is now launched. We're in the water fantastic feeling, everything went really well, I was initially concerned that the ballast would be wrong and I would be frantically running about shifting Staffordshire blues all-day but she sat in the water perfectly. The bad news; the bowthruster gearbox has not seated properly and the inspection hold is full of water, oh well that can be sorted out another day. One thing is sure I shall wait until I'm on a canal where I can beach the bow before I attempt to do anything, I'm not paying GBP300 for a lift out and GBP300 to be returned to the water in the near future, at least I hope I'm not! Some pictures of the boat been launched http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php...um&album=67
  9. We cannot decide whether to install washing machine at the moment. I have put plumbing in but at the moment we have a laundry facility on the Marina, being in the town centre there is lots of places to wash. Perhaps constantly cruising things would be different. (We do intend to have extended cruises once we have both fully retired, and have more time) Question 1: of those of you without washing machines given the chance would you fit one. Question 2: of those of you will have fitted washing machines do you wish you had use the space for something else. Up to present we have only had holidays aboard hire boats, but fit out nearly complete were due to move aboard an 4 to 5 weeks.
  10. Have you seen the topic on LEDs could be worth considering very low consumption on battery drain http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=5816 David
  11. Thanks for all your best wishes and yes we are going to be live aboard. David
  12. Big week this week Joamarjayne will be launched on Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m. still fitting out, but boat yard has introduced surcharge for hard standing on top of mooring fees so it will be cheaper to have her in the marina hope we've got the ballast right, hope the builder's welding is watertight hope she floats. Very excited and very nervous. Wish me well David.
  13. They've only been in a week and touch wood they appear to be okay but I couldn't understand was they didn't appear to be positive and negative sensitive and I always thought that LEDs be a diode needed to be connected correctly?
  14. I've just fitted 25 LED lights throughout the boat and although it's early days I'm very impressed with the level of lighting and the mood they create. I was initially concerned that the light would be cold; it's not quite a warm light but it is very relaxing.
