  1. Forgot to add, what a brill idea using the hatch as a trial, and thank you every one for your ideas, I will have a go and let you know which one worked out :-)
  2. So sorry, I am dyslectic so some times the spell check puts in words and I miss it, it should have said the painter put sand on the boat for a non slip surface, really sorry for any confusion :-)
  3. Hi Chris, that is the problem the painter will not respond to me to find out what paint he used, I do have a small pot of paint he left on the boat so I am now trying to find out what it was, unfortunately the paint has dripped over some of the witting on the tin so finding it hard to work out. I also think he mentioned that he added thinners to it, but as I understand paint from what others have told me, but I am not an expert in this, I need to find out if he used thinners or white sprit, and my only memory is he mentioned thinners. The boat is fab, all that worked on her I can only praise apart from the painter. Tim has come up with a fantastic design and john and Tim are such lovely people.
  4. The last time dean painted it was last November, it is a long story re the paint job and his work, but I have no problem with Johnathan at all, it is not his fault Dean did a bad job. Unfortunalty payed dean £1600 as part payment, he said he would come back in the spring and put it right but he does not respond to me, I have been trying to contact him since the spring time, so looke like I have lost the money and now have to pay out more to get it sorted out, well leson learnt!
  5. Thank you, what is scabbler? Willing to do what ever it takes to put it right, starting again if we have to Thank you for the advise, had not thought of sugar soap
  6. Looking for some advise. I have a new boat built and designed by Tyler Wilson boats. The new design lives up to its advertising in the tow path, back page is the pictures of our boat and the first one built and designed by Tim Tyler. We love her and everything about her, but Johnathan Wilson recommended a painter called Dean Roberts, he has been the only one recommended by Johnathan that I wish I had never met. Consequently, due to the appalling paint job we have decided to put it right ourselves after no response from Dean and Johnathan in how this will get put right. Problem is that we have been getting advise form various people who paint boats and the painter out sand on the boat for a non slip surface. I have been told that no paint will stick to this and will lift of if we try to paint on it. Anyone know how we can sort this out?
  7. Then it would be worth less and we poss could take it over, yet another solution yey potential number 2 solution Now there a plan, but I don't think I will make the famous money for it, pants Why when ever there is a plus there is a minus! :-)
  8. I do not know how many, like I said rummer at the moment!
  9. If we all leave, then the company will deffinalty not be able to survive? It is one option. Again, the impact this will have in the waterways of, I think about 300 boats coming out together would certainly hit the head lines "300 boats block up British cannals" :-)
  10. Now I only know a little bit , and his was from the meeting, it seems that there has been some payments, if I remember rightly, we were told £45000 and he ows £16000, I think that was the figue anyway.
  11. Sorry to hear you had the experience as well, i do empathise with you. What sort of society can not see the effect the MONEY people have on the individual's who have to suffer, it is pants! I have not got a clue, just the latest update here!
  12. Thnak for the advice, i guess we will just have to watch this space and see gow it pans out. All I can say is what a mess, rummer has it, already the moorers are looking into getting licence fees back, who knows what will happen now
  13. I was not thinking of it that way, I was more thinking that CRT would loose the same amount of money again if they block of the marina, if PLM do not pay them as well, how does this make business sense?
  14. The meeting we were only told that there were negotiations, the content of that we do not know, so I really can not comment. Paul G idear sounds like one solution, but whether it is viable Is the big question.
  15. Yes if it had been paid this would not have happened. I notice that no one picked up on the boats and how this is problem impacts on them! The tent and mersey cannal was the one I was particularly reffering to in September the trees were over half the way across the cannal and we mett lots of boaters that were grounded there, it was a hard trip. But this is all getting of the piont. Again it is the human cost that is the problem, much of the community here have also been living in boats for a number of years. Again the problem should not have happend, but this is where we are stuck in the middle.
  16. I think there is no easy answer, if the fees had been paid to CRT this would have stopped all this distress. I understand the problem Paul had with this is the CRT were in negotiation with him but then just stopped the process and took the action they have now. I have just worked out that if we all got blocked in and claimed our licence fees back it would potentially amount to the debt owed to CRT. So do we all stand together and fight this? Or leave? It is easy for people to judge the moorers here who have been here , some of them for years, this is where their community links have been built and they are being told to leave. Community is so important for support and trust, as we all know. I think that perhaps we should fight this as CRT have the monopoly and we can not even go to another company, ther is no competition so they can charge what they like. We traveled last year some distance and the cannals were badly maintained we struggled with over grown trees and grounded a number of time due to lack of dredging, what do CRT do for the money we pay any way?
  17. Funny you should say this, at the meeting I suggested to some people why can we not just take over the company and all of us run it as a community. Most said they did not have the funds to do this, but your comments may be a way forward, we need a solicitor, any one willing to take this on?and can it be done?.
  18. I think that Paul said the company that is going into be voluntary liquidated is a Limted company, not sure if this would make the process any different ! As well as the boaters that may loose their home, I feel sorry for the couple that put so much money into Pillings, who seem to not know how the place has been run as they live abroad, seemed from the meeting they put the most money into the set up, again this is all so unclear.
  19. Mmmmm it is all a but worrying That is what I thought it does not seem right
  20. The meeting was interesting, the company is going to go into voluntary liquidation, Paul said that it will not affect the agreed mooring fees that will not go up. He said it was a simple to start up a new company with in 24 hours and the company with just the same people in charge would take over and have a new agreement with CRT, so the owed money would not have to be paid. I really do not understand how that works...... Any one know?
  21. Just because I had some great advice on here I thought you may want to see a pic of the boat so far. Tim Tyler (TylerWilson boats) has developed hull to make the most of the inside space, the boat is a cross between a wide beam and Sheffield hull and we love her. The fit out is by Steve Ellis, pluming and electrics Spike (aka Mathew Spiker) boat surveyor Richard Fee ( for the CE mark ect). All the team have been great. I have taken the advice on here and paying for everything myself, I am the boat builder (well sort of at lest the project manager) so I own the boat at every stage and insuring it as it goes along, seemed the safest way. She should be finished in August or poss September this year. We have stage build pics but this one is the latest one.
  22. Just tried to start a blog on here but it seems to not work very well, might just be me and my technophobic issues but just looked at some apps was hoping some one could recommend one and how to link it to my profile on here:-)
  23. Mmmmm, you have no idear what a technophobic person I am, thank you for the help in getting me this far :-)
