yay four times I have called in last summer arrived about 5 to order five meals (not all for me ) told each time your too late or we don't serve food on a Friday once we were told don't serve food only on a Friday if he smiled I would have looked behind me for death coming to get me ,,,

if my boat gets struck by lightening will it charge my batteries for me,;-)

reading this i can see a very good answer to our problem i would be more than happy to pay extra ontop of my license fee to be allowed to stay in this area if no permanent mooring was available.it would of course generate more money,and help those who have no choice but to float around untill this problem is solved. makes sense to me. I would also like to thank you for the very kind and considerate posts pertaining to our situation it makes me feel that maybe there is hope and we may get accepted into the very diverse and entertaining life of boating. I would be grateful cotswoldsman if you had a name and contact number we could contact at CRT and try to move things on with our situation ? we obviously have been talking to the wrong people..I thank you for your support best wishes papillion

Bowten is right we had just enough equity to purchase boat and pay mooring fee and license for a couple of years,we really did not want to stay on land as we have the belief that communitys seem to have lost the spirit now. i lived in the same house for 15 yrs didnt really know anyone, i love chatting, but being ill its sometimes difficult to meet people, i always believed that the boating community was what i wanted,a friendly wave quick cuppa everybody in the same boat (pardon the pun)helping each other out..i wanted my children to see that side off life and to realise we dont need big houses and fancy computer games to enjoy life. we didnt have a tv for a year !! unfortunatly we have found that as we do not have a mooring and we seem to have just appeared in skipton some boaters have made an uninformed judgement on us,presumed we don't care about rules, but we do we try our best even by doing little things like cleaning other peoples dog poo up where we moor,gritting towpath,i am an avid reader and donated 100 books to the boaters toilets,god i am by no means perfect and my children can be little monkeys but we keep them in check and just want to get on and enjoy our new life on the canal.i wake up every morning and look out of my window and smile because apart from some negative reactions i love my boat and the life. Just need a mooring !!!!!!!!

Thankyou Bowten for actually thinking of other boaters situations and not just yourself, I myself have a boat due to economic circumstances and illness we had to sell our house, we bought a boat from a friend who had a mooring which was perfect as we had no desire to leave this area my husband and children are born and bred here i have lived here with my family for 25yrs.i send my kids to the local schools i have taught in them , when we bought the boat about two months later we were told we could not have the mooring as we had children, there was a waiting list,it wasnt fair blah de blah..since then we have tried to get a mooring in this area but we hit the same brick wall same excuse,we have contacted crt for help Nothing what are we supposed to do ? if anyone with a mooring in skipton would like to offer us one we would be thrilled and more than happy to settle, rather than putting up with the stress and stigma of trying to keep our children in an education, the finger pointing and gossiping,from what is meant to be a boating COMMUNITY, thankyou to the supporters you dont know what it means x
