Thanks for the responses.
Now the fan is a 4184 NXH 12-28v DC,(237m3/h flow rate) I am running it on 12v, What size of resistor would you recommend?
The fan is mounted on 4 rubber anti-vibe mounts, so I don't think it is mechanical noise, certainly the noise only started when the frame was fixed over the floor holes.
Slowing down the air flow through the holes by slowing the fan seems the way to go.

Put the heater on a separate fused spur, you won't be unpluging it!

I'm refiting the galley at present, moved the fridge to its new position, not enough ventilation, no problem, I'll put a fan in the floor to blow cool air from bilge, up the back of said fridge!
Got fan (FOC) Ahh. gap behind fridge 100mm, fan 120mm square.
Make up frame to hold fan at an angle to fit space, all good so far, air is blown at the back of the fridge rather than past it.
The noise is disturbing! The fan on its own, or in the frame is fine, close to silent.
I think the noise is coming from the air rushing up through the holes in the floor, these I have made as big as possible in the frame. ie 85x100mm.
Is this likely?
Anybody have experince of fitting a fan behind a fridge?
Thanks

Hi
I've had angle brackets welded to the rudder, to assist in climbing out of the water, they are well down the rudder, to allow a foot hold, when pulling up on the swan neck.
I was advised against the small semi-circles on the Uxter plate because of the prop being to close.
However my reasoning for using the rudder was two fold, first the bracket was low enough to get on to! and a large plate of steel was between my foot and the prop!

We have a 4 berth boat, from the back (stern) bunk room, 2 bunks, bottom one in your case could be changed to a desk arrangement, then bathroom, double berth, kitchen, living area at bow.
All in 55 feet, trad stern, keep looking, as others have said, your boat will find you!

I've been looking into 12v central heating pumps, all 12v pumps I've seen have a max temperature of only 60 deg C, not alot of use to me, as I want to use engine temp water (via a heat exchanger).
What I have found, Vauxhall Omega V6 engines use an electric coolant pump, which is said to have a good output, and will work at these temperatures.
Found one on E-bay for £40, now just need exchanger, and pipes!

Thanks for the suggestions, the car will be staying bankside!
If you see an almighty splash, please come with your magnets!

This coming weekend I have a heavy item to move, from my car to a boat.
Is there a public wharf in Braunston?
Preferably below the locks.

I see a tight square hole, and double sided tape coming.

Hi folks
It wasn't that much of an impulse buy, we were looking, having had a couple of hirings in the past! (2 long weekends, late Oct, and late November. Loved it.)
"Cwch" in the official Welsh dictionary is boat or beehive. Cwtch/Cwych is small space/cuddles in the South Wales dialect.
We often get greeted in welsh, we reply with puzzled looks, as neither of us are welsh,or welsh speakers, it's the name the boat came with, and we can't think of a better one. In the boats history, it first was in Chester, but called "Walrus", then moved to the Midlands/East Anglia and became Cwch.
Its the only Cwch on Jim Sherds site.

This may be a question that has not come up recently.
I've fitted a Smartgauge, connected the wires, via fuses, direct from the battery terminals, now how do I get the thing to stay in the square mounting hole?
Screw through the surround? Glue in?
How did you fix yours?

Good evening all
After lurking as a guest for a long time, its now time to say "Hello"
Reading this forum,I have a lot to thank you all for, the amount I have learnt is outstanding!
Two years ago Mrs Bod and myself went to the Crick show, just to have a look, see what narrowboats were like, up close.
We came away with Cwch (welsh for "boat")55ft Trad.
I tell you there is nothing more nerve racking than doing your first tunnel, at Crick, during show time! With the seller standing beside you, on a trad stern, before you agree to buy!
I shall now go and post my first question.

Christmas decorations?

Ice block over the thermostat. Let the cooler air falling from the ice block run into the thermostat, just don't let any water fall into the housing!

Hi
Charcoal filters, how often should they be changed?
We are suffering the "pong"! The filter appears not to have been changed in years.
Wiring a bilge pump

Our boat is wired like this, my feelings are that, having a flat battery in a dry boat, is preferable to a charged battery in a boat full of water!
