It sounds like you mean Thorne Boat Services. Great place and expert service by Leigh Guest and his sons. They do sell diesel and offer a great repair and advice service. Used them many times. Paul

We are going to be embarking on our 1st 2 weeks away on our boat in August. Setting off from Strawberry Island on Sheffield and South Yorkshire we are considering heading to either Hebden Bridge or Skipton. 3 of us on board, the missus, me and our 4 year old. Any advice, tips greatly appreciated. We have been as far as Stanley Ferry before in our old cruiser. We were considering the Chesterfield, but have been put off a bit by the amount of weed reported. Immersion is installed and working:-) Went for a surecal 750w heater. Bit of a big getting the blanking plug off but all done. Thanks everyone for all the valuable advice. Paul

Thanks for the advice Pete. Which I intend to take. I'm going to fit the immersion and do all the cabling, then get someone to finish it off. Paul

Looking at those diagrams, we seem to have a different variation. We have a manual change over switch and one RCD. The RCD does break the 240v power irrespective of the whether we're on shore power or inverter power. I need to get a couple of panels off to see what's happening from the shore power inlet to the manual switch.
