  1. Thanks to all for your interest and help with my query! I looks like it has been sorted for me now and I will try not to mess it up again!!! Cheers to all. Jackie
  2. Thanks for your help I have now sent PM to Daniel and I am sure this will sort it out! I did not receive any notification of a PM though and I have checked my settings and seem to have all the right boxes ticked!!Have to say though it's all Dhutch to me!!! thanks again Jackie
  3. Hi, sorry but did not receive a PM from Dhutch, but I am the same jacqmar! Have now sent PM to him so hope this will be sorted and confusion over! Thanks Jackie
  4. Thanks for your post, I would have thought this could have beeen sorted by now too. This is the second time I have posted on this query and back in August I was advised to use the report method which I did to no avail! How do I send a PM? I'm not very good at the technical stuff I'm afraid. Many thanks Jackie
  5. Hi Liam, Can you put me back to JACQMAR.........part of jacqueline and martin!! Many thanks Jackie...
  6. Hi can anyone advise me how to change my display name. When I registered a few years ago I chose a display name, having not used the site for a while I recently had to request a password reset. This was actioned but when I log in now I do not have the display name I used to have, and I would like to change back to it. Many thanks
  7. Thanks to all for your replies. We have booked the boat in for Dec/Jan. It will be under cover but not sure about heaters! We are only concerned because of comments from "wise old sage" at our marina who advised we must be mad to get it done then! Always someone to put their three penorth in !! Anyway think we will stay with the dates as lets face it if moisture is the issue when is a good time in this country? Thanks again
  8. Thanks Daniel, I will try the report option!Any probs and I will get back to you. Don't understand why my screen name has changed. i must have hit the wrong button somewhere! Regards Jackie
  9. Hi can someone help me change my display name. I registered a few years ago but havent used the site for a while so forgot my password. Entered my email address to retrieve the password and managed to log on again but my actual name shows on my posts and not the name I used before, if that makes sense! As you will gather I am not very computer literate! Many thanks!
  10. We are planning a repaint and were thinking of getting the job done over the winter when we would not be using the boat. Would this be a good time, we are concerned about the weather having an effect on the finished job. How long does it take for the paint to harden? We had our last boat painted in the summer, but found that the ropes rubbed the paint off within the first month. Don't want to make that mistake again!
  11. OOps sorry about above! need to get to grips with the controls!! Thanks for all your replies they have answered a few questions. One more though>>>>>>> should the inverter be switched off when not in use? We have just been leaving it on all the time whether hooked up or not. Will certainly go for domestic tv and save some money there. Cheers all!
  12. Hi, Can someone explain the inverter in laymans terms!! Our first boat and we have a mastervolt dakar 12v/1500w/65a combi, whatever that is! I understand you need the inverter to run 240v appliances is that right? As there are different size inverters what is the advantage of a bigger one and does ours sound big enough!!! Also is there any advantage to having a 12v tv? Have looked around and they are expensive. We have been using 240v portable but it is on the blink and we wondered if it was the boat electrics. Brought it home and still has problem, so can't be the boat. Cheers
  13. Thanks for advice, think we will leave the grit blasting and take option 2!! Is it crucial to leave for 2 weeks before boating? we will have to move the boat from the boatyard at least. had plans for couple of weeks afloat in july. autoglym has been recommended so will probably use this unless the bloke is reading this and can advise of his product!!
  14. Went to see the painter today, the grey spots when scratched reveal rust underneath. His options are gritblast which he advises will be expensive and time consuming or removing the exsisting paint with a grinder?? Is that right ? I must admit couldn't take it all in! And then "padding out " and using two pack ??? He did say he could not guarantee that the spots would not come back, but it was a cheaper option and as the boat is 10 years old and never been painted before it may be that it will last longer. He does not do the gritblasting himself, would have to be done elsewhere. Think we will go with the cheaper option and cross our fingers! Any suggestions on what to do with the new paintwork i.e. wax protection?
  15. Thanks for reply, looks like the job is going to be bigger than we thought! We are going to talk with the painter and inspect the boat tomorrow so will keep in mind what you have advised.
