  1. I would like to thank everybody for the comments do far as we have now learned a few new things. However we have decided to change but the only real deciding factor on the width is where it would restrict us up north......hoping someone could help with this x
  2. Hi. We have lived on our narrowboat full time for the past 2yrs now, what a goid decision that was. We origionally wanted a wide beam but as true novices we were put off by everyone we spoke to. However, we have just done our first cruise on the L&L through to the docks and have seen so many gorgeoys wide beams that we have been chatting to their owners and getting more excited at the prospect of a swap to a bit more space. Now then, the problem is that we are getting conflicting advice as to how big we can go. 2 questions..is it true we can get anywhere (north) with 57x10 and where wouldn't we be able to go with 57x11.5...sorry 3 questions ..and if we went any longer wahat would you suggest... Oh no that was 4..soz
  3. Oh that's great news...thankyou didn't think they would open that lock just for turning
  4. Well that sounds great for the right person but we really couldn't take on and be responsible for someone else's property/boat. I know people rent boats out but that's not the sort of thing we could do...it's a very good offer and I thank you very much but we have to decline

  5. Hi ... I have a 35 ft steel narrow boat that due to ill health and personal problems I have neglected for 18 months. It is grubby, needs painting, minimal tlc to get back to a fit state. It's in a private basin in the midlands will need a BSC and licence. So if I let you have it for a year what is in it for me? How do I retain my security of ownership? What are your thoughts?

  6. The lap top takes far to much power for my liking. That's why I bought the iPad. 0.45 amp hrs....but sadly you can't connect anything to it. No USB or anything the only in is the headphone socket.
  7. My 3 MIFI does n't to connect to anything other than a 3G signal it picks up as any mobile phone does. The difference is it then converts that 3G signal to a WIFI signal. It doesn't look like a dongle and it doesn't connect to the lap top or in my case iPad , another fantastic thing for on the boat. Charges on 12v and battery lasts 11hrs. The only thing my MIFI connects to is my 12 v to charge....
  8. Absolutely fantastic. Everybody said it wouldn't work, I just thank god I tried. Having the Internet even in the middle of nowhere and a wifi signal at that is incredibly satisfying...
  9. Just over 2 years ago we moved aboard taking our then 13 yr old son with us. He was mortified at being dragged away from his bedroom and play station although it had to be a good idea as he looked half dead. I looked at all sort of options for his online gaming even expensive satellite systems. Everybody said I would not be able to get online live stream gaming on a narrowboat but I did. Go to THREE. And look for their MIFI . It finds a 3G signal and converts it to WIFI and it finds a signal virtually everywhere, infant I can't remember not being able to find a signal. I have it on pay as you go and when it runs out the page comes up to top up online. Saying all that as expected my son now 15 nw only spends about an hour a week on his play station, how good is that, no more square eyes
