  1. I assumed they cant be as bad as some would like to make out with moving us on haha! should find out in the next few days whether i will be onboard ready for a floating christmas! Im sure i will have lots of questions to keep you all entertained or rolling your eyes!! Thanks all so far!
  2. hey, thanks all, i certainly agree with all the cold comments! There is a small chance im able to use my Dad's nice toasty wood burning stove fitted 60ft narrowboat for the winter which is certainly seeming the best option for me by far to ease me back into the life, especially with christmas and all coming up faster than i like to admit! I think im going to hold onto that chance and look for that option for a few months at least so i can look at getting something a little more er.. accomodating shall we say? the only trouble for me there is when its someone elses boat.. if things go wrong your even more nervous as a newbie.. for example i recall my dad being on a continuous cruising licence but with frozen canals unable to move... fine for him to make the decison of chancing it with tickets and so on... but different if its me?? i remembered this as a calm laid back way of life.. but ive never been more tense!!!
  3. Apples, apples... oh and some more apples. Its always this time of year i wish i liked apple pie or crumble, but in my mind apple should be eaten as it or with pork in sauce form! Many orchards around here on public land, if only i had the space there would be cider gallore! The elderflower wine last year went down a treat!
  4. boats are selling as soon as they are added online, I fear stiff competition!

  5. hey guys, Im sure you are all fed up with people talking about this, but ive lived on a 60(ish) foot narrow boat with my dad for a while a few years ago. I was apprehensive at first but the way of life converted me quickly. I now find myself torn. I am looking at getting a small river cruiser to live aboard. I know you should try and buy the largest you can afford, unfortunatly i have less than 3 weeks to find somewhere to live as just as little time to fund the purchase! I am looking at being likely to afford something around 20ft which scares me somewhat mainly due to the fact that you cant actually stand fully upright in them. (im not tall either people!) Im wondering if they can be used as a liveaboard for say six months while saving to go up a rung of the boat ladder? Or as some are taller than others can they be refitted? also the back canvas section, is this canvas for a reason or can it be made a little more secure to provide additional storage areas as i see that as my main problem? Sorry the general randomness of the question, probably just nerves getting the better of me!! Oh and hello to all!
