If boat owners want to avoid damaging their paintwork they should have the boat lifted out and use it for a picnic shed on the bank. Boats inevitably get scraped on the cut. With a substantial boat travelling at roughly 3 MPH the channel in the tunnel will bring the boat clear of the sides no worries. So therefore the helmsman should start steadily to get the line and increase to gentle pace and enjoy the ride!
