To Chris Pink
You are, probably on purpose, missing the point completely. It was not that the place was crowded at all, on a party weekend the more the merrier and it would have been lovely to join in with them and their disco, but when you are greeted with a waving stick it somehow puts you off joining in.
On reading through my earlier comments I must have been feeling very ladylike when I wrote it, I should have used the more colourful and descriptive adjectives used up and down the local canals when the cruising club name is mentioned.
Hi Dave - we are all looking forward to seeing you and Bev, hope Bev makes it out of hospital but if she doesn't me, Bridget and Lisa will be off too cheer her up.
We too arrived at Buxworth on Wednesday evening and were waved on away from the lower arm, which glancing down as you do, had several boats moored with just the right ammout of space between each one to make it impossible for you to moor your boat.
We later realised the 'gentleman' with a stick, was a one time Commodore of a cruising club who are desperate for new members!!!!
The stick waving was completely wasted on us as it is common knowledge amongst boaters who know that once the cruising club in question have claimed "their territory" you move on as far away as possible not wanting to be associated with the club who have a reputation of being clicky, arrogant and selfish.
