  1. Tel em it's very urgent because you've eaten a load of plums and you have the runs.

  3. Too much blade forward of the stock pivot will cause nasty negative helm, ie tiller pushing against you all the time and let go and it will fly over and put you into the bank.
  4. I have had a 365 for many years the pump packed up ages ago. I just keep a little jug of water handy to flush it. I spray the seal and slide with silicon spray each time I empty it.
  5. In very dry weather like now the soil around tree roots dries out, becomes lighter in weight and looses it's grip on the roots especially trees growing on steep banks' Along comes the wind and down comes the tree.
  6. There's a much simpler way of doing this avoiding complicated arithmetic. Here's how. Fill up the tank to the top, then syphon it all out again into cans, then place it back into the tank by a half pint at a time with a half pint glass counting them all and jotting each one down on paper then by adding them all up you will obtain the correct answer if you don't spill much. Simples.
  7. The lumpiness he mentioned is possibly an outer bearing track not shoved fully home on it's seat and so not quite square on to the taper roller race.
  8. Ideally. A solid hardwood board is the thing, like knotless Mahogany. Apart from the strain on them whilst tacking and going about they are also often stood upon to help right a capsized dinghy.
  9. Playing mobile phones. Some folk can't stay still whilst on the phone, they wander about willy nilly. A while ago one of our moorers did this and walked into our Southmill lock. He climbed out alright but the phone drowned.

  14. We now have wretched smart phones and social media to thank for the loss of banters, not to mention nice hobbies ie hand crafts ect most hobby shops have now gone, all due to bl--dy phones. The hobby is now phones. Phones are also the reason why posts on here have shrunk by quite a lot. It's hard having to prod at those little buttons to post and to reply.
  15. According to Jonathan Swift we are all Yahoo's.
  16. I once had a customer that told me he was Sherman tank driver at the Cherborg peninsular landings during ww2 and he said they were more afraid of the Americans than the Germans cos they were popping off guns at anything that moved.

  20. I'd never use tap water in a boats heating system or in vehicles. filtered rain water or bought distilled is far better to prevent lime scale and corosion. I wouldn't buy ready mixed coolant either.

I make sure they are nice and dry by putting them on this for a while, as I do coal too if it's wet. Or you can chop em up in the summer and dry them in the sun.

Buy Firelighters !!!!. I keep a jar of nice dry sticks half filled with old used paint thinners, or paraffin, diesel, avoid meths and petrol too volatile. Light a stick put on grate add some kindling and then coal or whatever. Never fails.

The front fire bars on the Boatman is standard grate bars easily available, just saw off how many bars you want and slip it in. I have 3 bars. The air control is easily modifide by unscrewing the knob off the bolt and tighten the bolt hard up against the inside of the door. The control knob can now be worked externally on the bolt stud sticking out and will no seize up.
