I'm thinking of making my own ECO fan with a CPU cooler and peltier plate. I was looking at a 40mm square plate but wondered if anyone has any experience of making an ECO fan?? Also, has anyone looked into the cooling aspect of the politer plate and if it's possible to also make a cooler for in the summer months? Thanks Ian

I'd thougth of using security set screws so they could be fitted just from the outside?

They have 3 locating holes and the aim is to drill/tap an 8mm fixing into the boat steel... The main aim is to have them as a deterant... IF someone wants to get into a boat they will...

Here's another project I've been working on... These are test window security bars... double one for larger windows and the single bar one is 'radiused' for portholes... Les, I made a trial one which was too heavy (over engineered) but the principle I'm aiming for is a fixed lower bracket with legs in order to bond to a roof then a second bracket which holds the solar panel, both pivoting around a central bolt - I'm trying to work out a clock face type way to allow rotation, or 45degree steps as a minimum. Then the panel would pivot up with 3 different positions in order to gain the maximum from the late year (fantastically bright) days. Then when in the lowered position, it could be bolted as one unit to stop peeps playing with it when you're not on your boat.... I've been talking to a few boaters regarding what I've been doing I've enquired about a stand at Crick to show what I'm doing.... Basically, the price woudl be right as my unit has very low overheads which aren't passed on... I will post pics when I have something but any suggestions would be welcomed.

I won't be fitting one.... as I'm going to do a rotating anti-downdraught cowl... Problem with the chinaman's hat is when the hot gasses hit it you can get drops of tar dropping down (one reason for setting it vertically) which you don't with the downdraught cowl... Also if any tar does drip out there's a raised lip on the lower section to catch it instead of it going on the boat Although I can make all this stuff I still can't get the actual image into a post... Oh well....

Bugger I'll get some more pics up IF I can suss out how to do what Matty did?? lol I designed the boat brackets before the boat was buit.... and all 'pole to boat' mountings are anti vibration.... Mainly as I didn't want resanance keeping me awake... One of my next projects is a Tilt/Swivel solar panel bracket for my roof.... Again brackets on boat were done before the build.... I'm also planning security bars for the windows as I've (again) not found anyone who do any nice ones.... thanks for the nice comments guys and I'll keep more pics coming....

Hi all, I just thought I'd share my 'in progress' chimney I've made.... as I couldn't find one anywhere..... I'm fortunate to have my own unit for welding/steel fabrication and I wanted my chimney to be different... So I made a 316 Stainless steel collar which allows a 4 1/2" (Could take 5") flue through it and also converts to a square base.... The chimney is 2mm 316 Stainless, formed from 6" tapering to 5" with a 10 degree slant to compensate for the angle of the roof.... I will be designing/manufacturing a rotating anti downdraft top for it when I've got some time.... Just for a point of note.... In the back of the picture is my bespoke Rutland 913 wind turbine pole which is mounted on antivibration mounts with 2 solid (to be fitted) Stainless rods to steady the top.... Anyway... Here they are No they're not as I'm trying to use photobucket for the first time and the images don't show... Just the link address in an image tag??? I'm moving back home in 3 months (current marina notice period) and I'm looking for a marina on the Leeds Liverpool canal preferably between Chorley (ish) and Blackburn (ish). . . has anyone any suggestions for a 60 x 10 widebeam? cheers Ianey

I just thought I'd add to this thread as I've just treated myself to the new Karcher Window Vac which is a battery operated window squeezy which sucks up the water for later pouring down a sink... I've tried it on my windows, bathroom mirror and shower cubicle and I can honestly say it's FANTASTIC.... Tesco are currently selling them for £49.99!!! Well worth the money if you ask me Ian
