  1. Hi We currently have a 5/16 wade plug cock with 1/4 inlet and outlet fitted inline from the the diesel tank to the diesel fire. It as started weeping at the bottom of the valve so I took it apart but it is a brass body without any seals I presume it is now worn past its tolerences. Does anyone know where I can get a 5/16 stainless steel lever ball valve with 1/4 inlet and outlet as a replacement as I think it may be better. Thanks
  2. Thank you for your replies. I have been in the marina for just over a year and feel that it as been allowed to become " a little worn " The pontoon/jetty comprises of wooden boards with small lathes on every other board. Some boards have been replaced and the lathes are being replaced with thin anti slip strips. There is and hand rail along the pontoon/jetty. The boards are very slippery when wet and the lathes cause a trip hazard. My boat is moored at one of the furthest points from the car park due to its length. Close to my boat is a yard which is let out by the marina to a couple of businesses which as a locked gate to allow access to the sheds. This area also contains the elsan point. I have asked for a key to the gate to allow easy access rather than risk of injury whilst the jetty is having its work done. And looking at some of the boards which have deteriated over years rather than months I am not sure how long the work may take. I know certain people who have health problems that have got keys to the gate but they have insisted no more keys will be given out. I have a loss of left leg which I have had since the age of 17 I have never claimed any disability and worked all my life but sometimes there are certain situations that are a little more difficult than compared with an able bodied person. I know that able bodied people have also slipped and one girl actually fell into the canal but wether she slipped or misjudged I am not sure. The only answer I got was that in certain words if the marina is not suitable we will be sorry to see you go

  4. Hello can anyone tell me if there are any set rules and regulations regarding health and safety in a marina. Is there a certain criteria that the marina as to adhere to regarding health and safety. Thanks
  5. They are involved and are currently investigating the situation
  6. I suppose the only way of getting the guys details would be to pursue it through a solicitor. Trouble is, if you decided to take and deal with it yourself in a court. How would you be able to get the information if they always come up with data protection. I wonder if the banks suspend is account until they have finished there investigations seeing that we are both Barclays customers and realisticaly if the guy as sufficient funds in his account it could be dealt within house. Yes, I know I have been an idiot to hand my money over but if the goods havent been sent and barclays investigation proved this and there is money in his account it should be handed back. Otherwise barclays could been seen to helping a fraudster
  7. The bad thing is Leo data protection lets these scum hide I would like nothing better than paying him a visit.
  8. The mobile number is/was on the ee network on a top up only sim I found this by googleing the number and then it was confirmed by ee when I rung them. I appreciate that there are lots of cases every week but this one seems to have a very good paper trail that could make it easier to locate the person. You can even tell where the sort code is from if you google about. It amazes me that it seems so easy to set up a false bank account but then I am a bit miffed because I lost money. I never thought I would fall for such a simple scam
  9. I have googled for sale 07951005480 and it looks like he as been selling a few different items all through gumtree
  10. How do you work out he lives in knowle bristol
  11. He is a native english speaking person. What else have you found out about the mobile number and how did you go about it zenataomm because when I try to google nothing comes up. I have established the number is with the ee network on a top up plan
  12. So much for all the security to open a bank account
  13. He as probably taken the money out by now and opened another account somewhere else ready for the next mug. Expensive lesson learned
  14. Not sure where to post this but here goes. On Sunday 21/06/2015 I purchased an eu20i generator from gumtree. I spoke to the guy who was selling the genny and paid the money into his Barclay account the item never arrived his phone is now switched unavailable. His details are Dave Hill, Newquay Cornwall mobile phone number 07951005480. Barclays bank sort code 20 70 94 account number 30174815. If anyone comes across any of these details on any selling sites do not send any money. All the information as now been passed onto Gumtree, Barclays fraud team and Action fraud. I hope this may help anyone now or in the future. Thanks
  15. Do you use water or any form of liquid with the clay bar
  16. What do you do with the clay bar ? Do you use with a polishing machine.
  17. Tell me about a repaint neil smith I have been quoted between 10 and 12k back to bare metal so I think that figure warrants some serious polishing. Just choosing the best cutting paste and wax I have tried G3 with a polisher on a small section and it as come up really well I think bullet use a product before the wax but everything looks easy on good old you tube lol
  18. Cheers I will try that I was a bit unsure about bullet polish as I think it works out at about £55 for a 70ft boat
  19. Is carnauba a cutting paste and did you use a polishing machine
  20. Hi Just wondered if anyone as tried the bullet polish to bring back the shine on the paintwork on there boat. The paintwork on the boat is dull due to oxidation, age etc I have sampled a small area with a fine cutting paste and it as come up well I think I could perhaps give the paintwork a new lease of life. Any suggestions to get the paintwork gleaming again. Thanx
  21. Whats the best paint job on a steel narrowboat a sprayed two pack or a hand painted boat. What will give a good long lasting finish
  22. Spoke to CTS at Norton Canes need to send some pics of boat and what I want then he will give me a quote. Glad your are pleased with your work Bearwood Boster
  23. Hello I would like to get the narrowboat painted and sign written. Can anyone recommend a good boat painter who strips to bare metal and removes windows etc. I am based on the Gloucester / Sharpness canal but am willing to travel up to the midland,s area to get the job done. Thanks
  24. After reading the varied articles on this family, I honestly believe he is taking the piss. One article states he is a carer for his partner I presume he may be getting an allowance for this. So who looks after her whilst he is out working. And surely if he is running his own business he must have the funding to have the work done for him. Surely you could rebuild an whole engine in 6 months. And I,m sure the local council would not see a family with children and a medical condition out on the streets if CART removed there boat. I may seem heartless but having lost my leg in 79 at 17 I have worked all my life and claimed nothing. I work 60 to 70 hours a week driving artics and I still have time to maintain the boat. Yes I do live in a marina but that works for me. And if this guy didnt comply in a house do you think the landlord would take 6 months to sort the situation. CART have been reasonable and patient.
  25. Thanks Higgs I will take your advice on board excuse the pun ?
