It will be past history soon and the problem would of passed by.

I had great time there and would love to stay longer, but the weekend was spoilt by a 60 ft plus wide beam having two different karaoke parties over the weekend. No warning given , and you are not allowed to move to another mooring.
Day two, different party

Interresting. Why that time to leave and open bridge? and why more at the point you suggest?
Nice tip on the Elsan disposal etc. too.
Mooring by the bootle arms is the nicest mooring after you have passed through Maghull, it’s out in the country before you get to another built up area, and only half an hour to the timed opening bridge. Go through maghull at quieter times is best as well ,as there can be a lot of traffic at a couple of bridges, but it’s not essential to.

Moor before the swing bridge ,close to the bootle arms on the way in. You can follow the track through the farm if you want to go the pub. Then set off about quarter to nine in the morning of the day of your trip, so you can open the bridge at half nine on Wango lane. Stop for services at Litherland, if needed for pump out or Elsan ,as they are expensive at Liverpool marina. That should get you to top of locks about one fifteen. You will then arrive in salthouse dock about half two.
Unless you have a cruiser stern ,you will want to reverse into the mooring ,otherwise you are facing a large wall. Make sure you know where your mooring is, as it’s hard to see the numbers on the end of the jetties.
We are there now and it’s a fantastic trip, have your camera ready as you sail past the liver buildings etc, and there were lots ofvlockies there at first lock to help and advise if you want them. They may ring you on the day to find out when you will be arriving ,so have phone handy.
Look at the map to see where you go coming out of last lock at Mann island.
Wish we could stay longer.

There was a dead sheep floating last time we crossed
its a good idea to have walkie talkie on the narrow parts so some one can walk to the next passing place to let you know if it’s clear

Or a mobile phone.

Check you have not put a fender over the exhaust, if so it will start up then shutdown.

Apparently the lift broke yesterday afternoon, possibly the seals. So gonna be assessed this morning.Might mean bringing planned works forward. Or all might be ok later. Check first if heading that way.

Saltaire we moored just past the day time only moorings, you can’t get close into the side, but fine mooring, and went to boathouse pub on river Aire. Also options in town, nice interesting walk. It’s a great trip.
-
We moored above the five rise overnight, lots of mooring space and went for a drink at the royal pub five to ten minutes walk, after the the three rise, is the fisherman pub, good food and lots of moorings, recommended stop at both. But particularly the fisherman.

Hob black, cheers I will look that up.

We have stopped using the stove now for a couple of weeks and noticed the stove is starting to take on a rusty hue. How would I go about removing that, and what do you do with yours in the summer months.. I have bought a cap for the chimney top, is it best to leave the door closed or slightly ajar.
My chimney seems to have rusted through just above the stove, so I am going to get it replaced and maybe the collar at the top which let water through in heavy rain in winter till I applied some plastic sealant which has worked.Any suggestions on ongoing maintenance gratefully received.

Wasn’t this the same as what happened to the foxton pub, .? once it was successful CRT took back the lease, and why the then leasee made that little bar opposite.

Having nearly been hit by a boat today, ( blind corner, their boat on wrong side, sharp turn under a bridge) I was thinking maybe getting a dash cam type thing for insurance purposes, I could of been almost t boned , as the canals are about to get busy with energetic excited hirers and owners, I thought if this is the start of things to come, better get some proof if things go wrong.
The odd knock, and boats getting too close to the side etc, is par for the course, but a head on, or t bone could do some damage, so I thought getting a cam at front of boat would be a good idea, has anyone else thought this, and any recommendations.
I have a bow thruster battery so could wire off that, and a cratch board. Any recommendations.?

I would think that those bins and maybe even tap will go when the property is sold......
Last time I used those bins they were full of rats, and I mean full, with others scampering away as I opened lid, quite a fright.

Just to finish this subject off, the blockage was on the other side of the macerator, it was blocked in the elbow joint into the tank. It was calcified up,and had got blocked there.
The joint from the hose ,from the macerator into holding tank is made at almost half the diameter of the hose from toilet. The calcification, decreased this further, and it was a problem waiting to happen.
Forward advice is to increase the diameter into the tank and accompanying elbow joint pipe work.
I was amazed it was such a small bore into holding tank when the rest of system piping is twice the size. But boat is 12 years old, I have had it for 5 years and not a problem before.
Thanks for previous answers, it was just a macerator, not a vacu flush.

Yes that looks like the fellow, today I bailed out the water in the bowl, and tried to get my hand around in there but looks like it’s a u bend so could only get my fingers around the top, so no chance of poking a stick in there.
Took it to a marina, who tried a suction contraption on it but no joy. Advised to fill with hot water, but on reflection, with the u bend can’t see that working, then to try one of those metal whirlybird pipe cleaners, which I have got , just couldn’t find it tonight, so will try that tomorrow.
if that doesn’t work, looks like taking the toilet out and washing down, Damn. -
Hi thanks for answers, it’s a vetus vacu flush to remote tank with a macerator, I did ring a man who advised me not to poke things down the bowl in case I ruptured something, advised filling the bowl with water and leave for a few hours, which I have done, and tried a plunger but with no luck. So I will empty water out of bowl tomorrow, and poke a wooden stick down there tomorrow, maybe with some hot water first, if that’s the advice.
-
I think our toilet is blocked from the leaving the bowl to the macerator, the macerator runs, but there is no forward motion, so I think it’s a big log poo stuck in the pipe this end of the macerator most of it went when I was flushing it, but then not all the water disappeared as is usual if you just use the macerator button.
, I am leaving it overnight, hopefully to down grade with the water in pan. But if it won’t flush tomorrow, what can I do, can I get a stick down there to mix things up, or is that not advised.
The tank should not be full for a few days yet, and although the canal is frozen at the moment, can’t see that being a reason.
-
They have cleared a lot of the front, in front of that lake behind, I thought they be incorporating that. Or maybe there just making a car park there, but that seems where most work was happening.
-
Thanks for all answers, still not sure, will keep below 14.7 to be safe, when I bought boat, he never went into a marina, and did have a generator, the batteries were , as the boat, seven years old, but the batteries were ballooned and had to be replaced once I started learning things.
