  4. Sorry for the late reply, I lost internet connection for a few hours. Thanks for all the info. It seems that I need to form a handle at one end and reduce the other end down to about 3x1 or 2½x1¾. Is it possible to step the end of the spike so I could use both these sizes? Thanks Anth
  5. Hi We about to tackle the Calder and Hebble for the first time. I have acquired a length of 3x2 hardwood to make a handspike. I've just measured the cross-section and I have found that its an eighth of an inch oversized. Will this matter or do I need to reduce it down. Thanks Anth

  7. The Silsden widebeam that we hired a few years ago was 11ft 5". Apart from the usual trouble at bridgeholes it wasn't that difficult to steer. Most problems at bridges was caused by either the bridge being on a bend or due to boats parked close th the bridge and reducing the room to swing the boat round.

  15. Hi all, Can someone tell me what the number in the green box next no my Avatar means? It shows a 1 in a green box at the moment, it this good or bad? I realise that this is a newby question but I tried searching and couldn't find anything. Thanks Anth
