  1. bet it still runs though if you want to see some real fun on a c90 go to www.c90adventures.co.uk look at the videos on the big one page , india is very funny , lorry over turning at 6 minutes is superb also best modification , cambodia video wont give it away to much but its near the end and involves ummm just go look ....
  2. yup it is im currently looking at ways of putting my c90 GS tourer on the boat the question that sprang to mind was do you have to take it off for the BSC as it has petrol in it ???
  3. if you are on the towpath as opposed to a mooring site does that mean you can stay as long as you want , of course i understand all the best spots have restrictions to time but there are no signs on most of the towpath ???????
  4. we are heading that way have been waiting for lock 65 to open , they opened it saturday , i was at work, so on monday my first day off they shut it again so we are stuck in bedwyn for two more weeks. The notification went on the web site just after i called to ask why it was closed ummm . So in reverse AGAIN back to the bridge and on 48 hour mooring for two weeks , in fairness they said that will be ok as i cant move . Its a real pain for me as i have to commute to london everyday and its really hitting hard financially.
  5. The lock opened today so we can all move , well the others can I'm stuck at work waiting for a day off which is Monday when of course it is going to snow haha
  6. Even better now all I have to do is find the charger and wire it up
  7. thats the one great stuff many thanks
  8. In my boat I have , next to the 240 sockets , three pin 12v sockets . Does anyone know where to get the plugs ? if i can get a 12 volt lenovo s230 charger then i want to put one of the plugs on it so i can plug it in anywhere on the boat . Have googled it but no results any ideas ????
  9. Got home tonight to find better half sitting in the dark , fired up the engine and lights no brighter . According to the gauge batteries at less than 8 volts and no charge going to them , the gauge for the alternator says 14v so I'm thinking that all the time I thought I was charging batteries whilst cruising I'm not. Too dark to look tonight but I'll get up early and suss out the system and try to get it working. I have a genny so can get some charge back in batteries . But it appears that this may have been the issue all along . Thanks for all the replies , got a wage rise today so solar panels here we come .
  10. what does not help is my wonderful other half is polish so back and forwards sometimes gets mixed up , but hey its adventure
  11. im loving it but I thought i was reasonably intelligent boating has proved me wrong . By the way boaters are fantastic i dont care about pump out CCers etc etc everyone came to our rescue the most helpful guy was the guy blocking the lock approach who I woke up by touching his boat ( a little hard ) he showed us how to go backwards / forwards / backwards / forwards you probably know
  12. Ok now it is really funny we left early to get off the mooring , first lock chained up . Reverse , ha ha , try to turn a 46ft boat in a 45ft hole , stuck . Help arrives we get out and a train to get van sees us with generator and transport back on the same mooring tonight ill try to post pic . I have learnt a great deal today .
  13. For the short term I intend to run a generator and battery charger until I can look into the system a little better , two days in and I'm learning thanks all
  14. As far as the batteries are concerned I think I just need more there is only two and the alternator is not that big , the plan is to head up to little bedwyn and then cycle off to the van , return to devizes to get my motorcycle which I need for work this week then hopefully find somewhere to stop for 7 days until we can move again , could be interesting
  15. The boats were three abreast at the water point
  16. First time on our own and we have a lot to learn We set off yesterday from Devizes after looking at the stoppages thinking we could get through, first lesson learnt ,that has changed and we can not get through until the 12th . next lesson was when passing fisherman with long poles they prefer you to go nearest to them rather than on the bank farthest from them. Next my invertor struggles on my batteries if I try to charge lap top even after a days cruising ( more batteries ) . Because of the stoppage we have passed the last water point and may have to go back to refill , doh. I also have a long cycle ride in the morning to collect my van . Not sure I should admit this but maybe someone can tell me what i should have done , as darkness fell I knew we would have to stop but there are a lot of boats on the visitor moorings already doubled and in some places 3 abreast , I spotted a gap further up and managed some how to get into it , tied the boat up and headed to the shop quickly to get some milk ( it was shut ) when i came back I noticed a sign saying permit holders only but it is now dark so I have decided to stay put and move early in the morning , not sure what else I could have done other than maybe look before struggling to get in the tight gap . there really are few spaces here. we did 14 locks today and we found it hard work but it was nice to finally get out in the boat , a lot of plus points including very hot water when we stopped so a nice shower and a few down points the fridge appears not to run on batteries hopefully the genny is still in the van when I get to it . like I said a lot to learn..............
  17. The choc blocks are only on the 12v pump that pumps air from the engine room . So the two cables at the bottom are not feeds from the invertor to the fuse box ? Any idea what they are then . First time I have had to use it as we have lost all power in the Marina .
  18. first is cables from invertor then the RCD and then the little invertor
  19. When I turn on my invertor the only socket on the boat that is live is the one built into the invertor its self surely it should make all the sockets on the boat live or am I missing something ????
  20. thanks for replies I feel happier now , it is a very steep learning curve

    Is Cart crazy

According to the phone call as one stoppage opened the next closed and there was no window of movement , looks like another phone call to see if I can get some clarity . I'll let you know what they say.
  22. After putting our stuff on the boat it listed to one side I have moved some ballast over to correct it question is is that ok or is there anything else I should do? Sorry if that seems like a daft question but im new to this.

So what happens to the CCers that get to this point and cant move will that be ok for them just to sit there for three months , surely they could delay by a few days allow every one to get through that needs to and then start . I can see the point about a knock on affect which could possibly hold up people in the spring but to those of us that have planned around what they have said it causes big problems. I also with hindsight ( note to self don't post until calmed down) see that this is probably not there fault , but for me it now means a 160 mile round trip commute to work for 3 months instead of 3 weeks , so maybe not crazy but its certainly not good.

    Is Cart crazy

I bought a boat on the k&a near Devises and kindly the marina has said i can stay until lock 68 opens , well a phone call today informs me that they are over running by a week with the work. Ah we said will you be delaying the next closure a few miles up by a week to allow people to move. The reply was no they will close as planned which effectively means I could be stuck until March , is it just me that thinks this is crazy.
