  1. I've had a Kipor KGE3000ti from Peak Generators for a couple of years now and it's used on a weekly basis, more in winter and less in summer. It starts first pull most times and drives everything that I need - power tools, TV DVD laptop vacuum etc. In fact, it will run my electric drill that won't run in a modified sinewave inverter so it must be a purer wave than the inverter. Hope this helps in the deliberations
  2. I've had 5 of these LED lamps installed for almost a year now and I find them great. These warm white ones are (to my eyes) whiter than the fluorescents they replaced but don't appear at all blue. I can easily read using just one of them and as everyone says they really do use next to no power (about 1w I think). I can run them for several hours a night all week without needing to charge the batteries. They are wired directly into the lighting circuit and I've had no problem with high voltages when the engine is running and charging batteries (I've a Sterling alternator box thingy too) . The Ultraleds folks told me that they would be fine up to 15v. Hope this helps Richard PS no connection with Ultraleds just a satisfied customer
  3. The balance beam on the towpath side of the lower gates has broken and been removed. The lock is still open to narrowboats but anyone that can't get through just one gate is a bit stuck!
  4. Hi beeailseebob If you intend to move any distance from your home mooring, my advice would be for both you and your partner to start learning to handle the boat "single handed". Pick a nice sunny day without any wind and go nice and slowly! If you don't you'll find that you'll end up having to move "single handed" for the first time in January with a howling gail, lashing rain and a fractious baby with a soaring temperature and, let me warn you, it won't be fun! One other thing, enjoy every minute with the little one, in a blink they're grown up and have flown away.
  5. I replaced one of my MR16 halogens with one of these http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/mr16-acdc-warm-...gle-p-1166.html about 6 months ago. Before I purchased I asked the supplier about the high voltage issue when charging and was told that there would be no problem upto 15V. I'm delighted with it and have subsequently replaced another 4 bulbs. Also got one of their head torches, fantastic for delving into the engine bay etc well worth the tenner
  6. hi, I believe that Marine Engine Services in Uxbridge sell Lister coloured engine enamel. No idea about the price though
  7. I have the Kipor KGE300ti. It's rated at 2.3 KVA (whatever that means) and happily runs a 2KW fan heater. Not tried it on a washing machine but I'm happy to help someone test it out if it would help. I'm on the eastern K&A.
  8. Try Marine Engine Services in Uxbridge. I got a copy of the manual for my STW2 there last year. Not cheap but worth it
