Hi I only get a chance to visit forum at weekends. Great to know that you had a good holiday. You did not get as far as us - Welford Arm, Leicester summit. If you get a chance the section from Watford locks to Foxton Locks is lovely including 2 tunnels. Hope you get the chance to have your own boat soon. We are planning a trip round the BCN for our holiday this year. Have fun and enjoy!

I suppose the answer is to contact BW nearer our holiday time (July) re. levels and Chasewood resie. Although on second thoughts I dont think there will be much point in this it would be a much better idea to contact all you BCN natives via the forum to see how the levels are looking. The last time I cruised the BCN was approximately 18 years ago. Weed hatch was used, without exception, after every bridge hole on the curly wurley - and we did not see another moving boat. Had a lovely 2 hours boating yesterday back to home mooring at Welford. It was a change to see the sun. Thick fog today, cloudy and damp - for once we made the right decision and came back to base a day early. Just going to try the third attempt to light the squirrel - normally have no trouble and it never goes out - obviously the other crew member was not paying attention! We would love to bu unforutnately work stops play - have a good trip. Fiona

Thanks for all your info. We will certainly contact BW re. draining of Chasewater reservoir as our boat has a draft of 2'6"! Last year we went from Wolverhampton 21 to Gas Street and I lost count of how many times we (that would be the royal we) went down the weed. We would rather put off our trip to next year if the levels are going to be down. We live on our boat on the Leicester summit and have just broken out of our moorings for a weeks holiday. We have not ventured far as ice stopped play. We have done our fair share of ice breaking in the past but now prefer to leave it to others! Thanks again

Hi I dont know much about these things but we have a Vodaphone mobile light connect dongle which costs £10.00 per month. My husband spends virtually every evening from 7pm - midnight on e bay/forums etc and he has only gone over his limit once. Not sure of the other details but it might be worth looking into.

Hi there My husband and me have been boating for a number of years but are BCN novices, having really only travelled on the main line. For this years holiday we are proposing a three week tour of the BCN. I wonder if anyone has advice of places to be avoided for over night mooring. We are fairly hardy but if there are any particular spots that have a bad reputation we would obviously prefer to avoid these if possible. We are really looking forward to this holiday. Thanks
