Two unusual horse shoes, with 'tread' forged into them, these could well be from horse boats. Both found in Grand Union canal different locations.

The shoe on the right was for Railway horses on cobbled roads. The frog had a spike ( cog ) which stuck in the gap between stones to aid the horse up hills.In winter shoes were fitted with frost cogs.
