February Half Term

My illness has caught up with me and I cannot make as much of half term as I would like. However, I have decided to stay on Charm all week, so at least I feel like I am away. I have finally sussed the bed dilema and have found if I put a quilt under my sheet, I no longer feel the cold coming up from the tank under my bed. I feel quite toastie, epsecially when I put the two hot water bottles down the bottom of my bed with the the cushions stuffed between my bed and the uninsulated engine room. Y

No boat to visit today - so what else to do but a walk down the canal?

Snow still on the ground, cold breeze, blue sky - time to take a walk down the canal. My friend Suz came with me and we started at Roydon, where I had previously walked to. So many names, don't suppose I'll remember them for a while. Talk about generosity- I asked where I could get some fenders as Charm does not have any. Whoosh! Spa

I am now Charmed!

I have just got home with the keys to my first narrowboat - it is called 'Charm'! Just what I wanted - maybe more - 40 ft, semi-trad, ready to go, bought from a lovely couple the old fashioned way with a handshake and transfer of funds in the pub! Unfortunately I will not be back to see her until Friday on which day I will go and load my first bits on her and start with my initial priority list; padlock for gas locker, lights are too dim, fill with water, remove and dry out the water in the engi
