whis_tan09 Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Hello everyone, I wonder whether anyone can help. We bought a 6 year old narrow boat recently, and we are moored on the Grand Union near Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. She is in desperate need of a new paint job top and bottom. We have been told that it is best to wait for the spring when the weather is better as the damp can affect the quality of the job, which is fine. However, we are keen to find a painter and get her booked in for next year, I expect the really good painters get booked up pretty quickly? We want a really professional job and wondered whether anyone could recommend a company near to Hertfordshire or at least not too far away? Any recommendations slightly further a field also welcomed. Many thanks for any help offer in advance Tania
Batavia Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Oxon Boat Painting re-painted Daedalus for us earlier this year and did an excellent job. http://www.oxonboatpainting.co.uk/ If interested, you can see the results just up the canal from you, in Berkhamsted. Chris G

Mukiwa Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 [ For the ultimate in professional jobs you cannot do better than talking to Phil Speight. Before making a decision it would be worth going on one of his boat painting courses. About £65 for a weekend. Even if you do not want to paint your own boat you will get so much useful information that it will help you arrive at a better decision as to who to use, colours and overall design. I went on his last course and I was amazed at how much there is to know. There is also a good explantaion of the history of boat painting. You will enjoy it as Phil is a very accomplished entertainer. I seem to recall that the next course is early in the new year. I think he advertises in the mags.
Water Rat. Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Well - I have to say it. Taylors of Fenny, Fenny Compton, just google them for the details.
