slowcoach Posted May 6, 2007 Report Share Posted May 6, 2007 (edited) just a quick cruise log for anyone interested Just a quick log of our journey and a few notes with them: Saturday 5th May 2007 Number of persons on board: 3 Goole to Whitley Weather conditions: Sun out, quite warm, slight breeze 15:15pm – Step On Board 15:25pm – Untie Moorings and depart 15:30pm – Exit Marina 16:06pm – Pass Rawcliffe moorings 16:26pm – Under M18 Motorway Bridge 16:44pm – Under New Bridge 16:59pm – Under Beevers Bridge 17:10pm – Pass By New Junction Canal Entrance 17:37pm – Under Crow Croft Bridge 17:55pm – 18:05pm – Pollington Lock 18:25pm – Under Heck Railway Bridge 18:37pm – Heck Road Bridge 19:02pm – 19:12pm – Whitley Lock 19:25pm – Moored Up Under Bridge at Jolly Miller Moorings but the rings in the side of the bridge didn’t look too clever so we moved along at back of others and put pins in Total Travelling time: 4 Hours (giver or take a couple of minutes) Time in car would have been about 20 minutes Sunday 6th May 2007 Number of persons on board: 3 Whitley to Goole (Return Journey) Weather Conditions: Sun out, but very windy, bit of drizzle during night 07:05am – Everyone up 08:00am – Breakfast (Sausage, Egg and Tomato) (broke 3 eggs by merely picking them up) 08:30am – make way on foot to car boot at Whitley, have a mooch round, me brother bought a C.B radio, and i got some dried sausages for jake, our dog, some pigs ears for my brothers dog Flash and ours Jake, and some markies 10:05am – Back to Boat 10:30am – Check oil and water in boat 10:42am – Cast Off 10:47am – Under A19 Bridge 10:58am – Arrived at Whitley Lock, stopped to use Sanitory station 11:15am – 11:25am – Whitley Lock 11:45am – Heck Road Bridge 11:55am – Heck Railway Bridge 12:20pm – 12:32pm – Pollington lock (shared lock with 3 other boats, an Atlanta which the wind has got and was all over the shop, a 50 foot narrowboat and a widebeam plastic about 30 foot or more, along here was very windy, Atlanta came in lock then reversed hit side of lock and cracked corner fender, the wind was very strong, the widebeam grp, scraped along lock gates with the wind blowing it onto it, thought it was gonna get stuck length ways, weren’t using long enough ropes, our nb and the other perfectly calm, the message to all boaters GET A STEEL NB OR WIDEBEAM BOAT, after came out of lock moored up to wait for steve finishing lock and then we reflected on the lock, as you do) 12:46pm – Crow Croft Bridge 13:09pm – Pass Entrance to New Junction Canal 13:18pm – Beevers Bridge 13:32pm – New Bridge 13:46pm – M18 Motorway Bridge 14:02pm – Pass Rawcliffe Moorings 14:36pm – Enter Marina 14:40pm – Moored Back in berth Total Travelling Time: 3 Hours 58 Minutes (give or take a couple of minutes) Time in car: 20 minutes the only problem we had started in saturday in pollington lock took boat out of gear into neutral and engine died, but starts easily again as it normally does, about 7 or 8 times yesterday but only 2 or 3 today, when it is moving its okay but when you take it out of gear the engine dies, and we have found that it puts more revs on it self other than that we had a really nice time, any ideas on the engine/gear situation any comments on the trip we had would be appreciated(as long as they are nice) Edited May 6, 2007 by slowcoach Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
