Gloss or Satin on the coach sides

Hi Folks,

Time to give Lily a little makeover. I'm using Dulux weather shield gloss on the gunnels and side, but wondering about using a satin finish on the coach sides ? What are you thoughts ?

unless your going to polish it on a regular basis it will dull anyway over time.

Entirely down to personal preference, but as a working signwriter/boat decorator I could count on the fingers of one hand the silk cabin sides that I've worked on over more than 30 years in the business. I can see little advantage to silk, save that it may not show steelwork ripples so readily. Gloss will eventually dull down, more quickly if not cleaned and polished, but by that time it's probably time for a repaint anyway.

 

Whichever you choose, remember the mantra.....Preparation is the essence of good decorating ....it applies in spades to boats!!
