Immersion and Webasto- again!

Sorry, know this has been mentioned several times, have used the search function etc.

My calorafier pictured below.

Can I fit an emersion heater for shore hookup?

I cant locate a blanking plate, but didnt know if anyone can tell me if its hidden behind the foam, or if I can replace the top cap?

If I can fit it, i've also got the webasto to go in soon.

My questions-

If the immersion element is heating the water for the shower / taps, but I run the rads heated from the webasto, can I run it so the I have option of the engine, webasto, and heater for shower?

If that makes any sense!

If I use the immersion or engine for rads, i'm assuming I run a pump to push the water to the rads- how would I plumb this with the webasto in the system?

Thanks all!

Not sure if this helps, but this is what my horizontal calorifier looks like after fitting the immersion:

The immersion is the thing with a grey cap and a "large" octagonal nut.

You should have a blanking plate/nut which you would replace with the immersion unit.

I can't see from your photo if you do have one.

Are they all the same fit? Or how do I work out size and length?

Apart from some specialised marine calorifiers they are the same thread size as domestic ones, that one is a standard domestic type so can be got from most suppliers, the length will be governed by the cyl diamiter if side entry or the coil position if top entry but an 11" should do it. Try to choose a low wattage one, the standard 3kw domestic type don't leave much of your 16a shore power over as it will pull up to 13 or 14a depending on voltage drop, 1250w should be about right and leave plenty of power in reserve but will be more difficult to source than a standard 3kw one.

Thats great, thank you very much.

Good to know its standard so will be easy to source, even if the lower kw may be harder in general to find.

Guess this then:

Worked out the calorafier is approx 50L, roughly 12inches accross.

Will I be able to use an 11inch immersion heater or need the 7inch?

I assume its side entry then, I would go for 7" as that is more likely to be obtainable in lower wattage.
