John Orentas Posted January 14, 2005 Report Share Posted January 14, 2005 (edited) The whole point of a hand held clamp-meter is that it can be used to test the current flow in any conductor, in any part of the boat, for example the output / input amps from any one of your batteries without disconnecting or switching anything off. Shunted indirect reading ammeters (yes they are still called ammeters) are not expensive should be a permanent installation along with a voltmeter on all boats.
