Removal of Boats

I was informed yesterday that BW has prohibited the removal or insertion of boats at lock sides until further notice. I believe its to do with health and safety in public places. Has anyone any further information on this?

While I am not specifically aware of temporary restrictions relating to the lifting/dropping of boats on lock sides, this would seem likely based on the tragic accident experienced on the K&A just under two weeks ago.

 

A tractor/JCB making its way along the towpath turned over. While the exact causes have yet to be confirmed, it may have been caused by a weak towpath edge. We are currently auditing all vehicle access along side the network.
