I have a Mastervolt Mass unit with remote control panel which has stopped reading % battery capacity correctly ie I reset it to 100% OK and it gradually runs down to near 0% - any ideas?

 

Yes the batteries are OK, recharge OK, perform OK in use.

 

The only 'change' I can think of is I have wired solar panels into the 24V battery bank through an MPPT controller - could that have an effect on it??

I would suspect you've wired the solar panels to the battery side of the shunt instead of the load side. That would have exactly that effect.

I wired the solar panel feed (from the MPPT) onto the +ve/ -ve bars of the battery bank - so how do I solve the problem Gibbo?

You have a big brass shunt in the battery negative (or at least you should have). NOTHING should be connected to the battery negative except the shunt. Here's one I did ages ago because it's a very common mistake...

 

 

See where it says "Should actually be connected here"? That's where the negative from your MPPT controller should be connected, not to the battery negative.
