Eberspacher Hydronic B5WS

Featured Posts

Hi,

I purchased an Eber Hydronic B5WS on e-bay over the winter for my new boat. ( I have a Lister aircooled engine)

It seemed like a good deal- £250 brand new out of an Audi, VW !

I have now wired it in but nothing happens.

I have a lot of info from the website but I can't get it to work

The Fuel pump and water pump are separate.

There are 8 connectors only.

1 red - Battery +ve

2 Brown - Battery -ve

3 black/red - not used

4 Green - Fuel pump

5 blue/white - to Diagnostic (I think) therefore unused.

6 Blue - to temp sensor or on/Off switch - would this be a link to the +ve battery via a Toddle switch?

7 yellow - to D+ dynamo should I bother with this or hook it up to the +ve output of the Alternator or battery +Ve

8 Black/white -unused

I have only used the 1 and 2 for the power, and 4 for the fuel pump with the 2 nd wire going to the -Ve

What do 5,6,7 do and are they neccessary? particulary no.6

WE can't go very far without hot water!!!!

Please any help will be accepted.

firstly, is it deffo a B5w? as thats the petrol version if it is,

but yes you do need to apply power on pin 6, as long as power is therte it'll run, when removed it'll go thru the shut down sequence,

never shut it down by removing the main power, it needs to go thru a proper cool down phase, takes about 2 to 3 minutes and saves the heat exchanger from cracking.

also, how are you powering the water pump? on my heater (D5Wc) the water pump is powered from the loom, so the heater controlls it for speed and to be able to check it's working.
