Length of cruiser stern

Featured Posts

What is the minimum length of a cruiser stern with comfortable access to engine?

Hi Marc.

Remember it is not just the engine that requires access, there is the weed hatch and stern gear too. I could never be a marine engineer I am always amazed at some of the tiny spaces some of these double jointed 'garden gnomes' can get into. There is no reason why the engine cannot intrude into the cabin area with extra access being allowed from the cabin, many sea-boats have a similar arrangement. It is a matter of how much inconvenience you are prepared to put up with.

So there is no real rule but if you are designing a new boat a traditional style would suit you much better.
