Webast thermo 90s smoking?

Hi out there

I had a problem with the instalation of my Webasto 90s which resulted in the unit becoming waterloged

(Installer had exhaust on a downward slope - no swan neck)

I have replaced the burner unit as this was u.s. and put all back together

Unit fires and runs but with lots of smoke - has the water ingress caused other damage

any ideas?
