loner
I noticed a mention of a staircase lock on the Gower branch of the BCN. I though if they were all in a line that they were all staircase locks??Where can I find a good description of the different types of locks? Thanks. Chris J W
Ah. You're thinking of a Flight of Locks. A Staircase is where the bottom gates of one lock make the top gates of another. Good bit on Wiki about Locks.

loner
Thanks for the info. I read the term "staircase" lock in an article in Feb 2009 Waterways World magazine. Lisa and I went through the Foxton locks twice in Oct of 2007 in a Canaltime narrowboat. What a great time we had.
