We are looking for John Smith who posted here some years back about his father who was a lighter man called Fred Smith.

We have just bought Vassal and plan to restore her down in Suffolk. He might like to get in touch.

There was a ex Thames tug called Vassell (though in the pictures it shows it as Vassal on the life-ring) recently for sale on Alan Pease's website, that seems to fit your specifications. Only a bare (and I do mean bare) hull left. Good luck to Mcbarty if it's the same one, it looks like it has a lot of potential to be a lovely tug.

If that's the one on Alan Pease's site it's a lovely looking hull. I've wondered about it as a project boat myself, but I need to focus on the last 10% of ours.

 

Whereabouts in Suffolk will you restore her, any engine ideas yet?
