Wonderful Wednesdays - Cambridge

Was doing a little bit of interweb searching for the area around Cambridge for our holiday next week and came across the above. "Wonderful Wednesdays" though they last from Tuesday through to Thursday - lots of things going on - street acts etc in Cambridge. So looks like if Cambridge is busy we'll be mooring around Fen Ditton and taking the Park and Ride into Cambridge - be nice if we could moor in the city itself though as I'm not sure about the dogs going on public transport - not even sure if its allowed these days...............would'nt want to leave them shut up the boat for hours.

 

Anyway grocery order is in to be delivered to our home for the week - packing to do tonight/tomorrow and the weather forecast does'nt look too bad either. Really looking forward to doing some river cruising this time.

 

Remember "Friendly Fox" is the boat - keep an eye open for us

The closest you can get to Cambridge city centre is just below Jesus Green Lock, it's a very attractive spot and worth cruising there even if you then turn round and go back to Fen Ditton. There are visitor moorings and a water / pump out point just below the lock but the moorings tend to be busy. It is only a short walk across Jesus Green into town from there. 'The Backs' (above Jesus Lock) is a most attractive stretch of river and if you have time to hire a punt from Magdalene Bridge and go up to Silver Street and back I very much doubt that you would be disappointed - do take a camera!
