sorry it's a Paloma not Rinni we have a old Paloma water heater (changing in a year or so £££) and need to know what bar pressure the full water system should be with a total water system fit out. Dose the fresh water pump control the Bar pressure to the Paloma, will it still hold pressure with cold tap and hot tap running? We are also moving the bathroom from next to the heater to 25ft away with the heater staying put (in kitchen). Can this affect the pressure? Not to worried about hot hot water just a warm shower till we change heater.

hi all - quick query. i unplumbed my paloma boiler to fit new worktops, and stupidly i forgot to make a note of which was cold inlet and which was hot outlet! it is a standard Paloma - looking at it from the front, the gas inlet is to the left, and then there are two water connectors in the middle and to the right. can anyone tell me which is which??? cheers!!

HI, I'm trying to work out the kilowatt input rating for a paloma water heater. Unfortunately it's out of the boat so I don't have the plate to hand immediately... but... it's one of the 'old looking' ones with the red stripe on the front and paloma in shiny metal. White enamelled. I've found a manual which suggests it might be 635 btu/minute, which I think converts to 11kw. But that sound like rather a lot. Does anyone know what the 'normal' old school boat paloma takes in kw? Trying to work out how many vents I need to install in the re-fit! Cheers, Patrick

morning all!! i recently replaced my water pump to something a bit more powerful as i had issues with water pressure and my paloma not working very well, now there is plenty of pressure, in fact so much so that the water does not have time to get hot enough now as it passes through the boiler too quickly (the opposite of what i had before which was water too hot, but with the addition of cold reduced the pressure and so stopped the boiler burning - they're pretty contrary and fickle these boats I'm finding out!!). the new issue is this: when i try and turn the hot tap down a little (or even the cold tap for that matter) the pump sort of only comes half on, judders a little and the lights flicker. what is going on with this???? with the old pump if i turned the tap down a little there would still be a steady decrease in pump speed, water pressure etc, now it seems like the pump only likes it when the taps are full on, not half on?? And why would this affect the electrics?? has anyone had this problem before? yours rather frustradedly SB -
Hi All! My wife and I have a 63 foot narrowboat. We recently had a Paloma hot water boiler replaced (the old one didn;t work when we bought the boat a few months ago). The Paloma is situated in the galley, around one third of the way along the boat from the bow. The water pump is on the inside of the boat, on the other side of the wall from the cratch. Our bathroom is another third of the way down the boat. When we turn on the hot water tap in the bathroom the Paloma (set on highest temp) ignites (only when water turned on full) and we get hot water - but too hot to shower under. If we turn the cold water on - even just a little - then the Paloma stops burning (presumably because of a lack of water pressure), so then we have cold water. If I turn down any of the settings on the Paloma (down to 'two flames', or down to anything less than '5') then it does not ignite even when hot water tap is turned on full and cold water off. So, we have either hot or cold water, but no happy medium. We are new to narrowboats! Can we turn the water pressure up on the pump? Will this cause leaks if we do? Can we make the Paloma more sensitive to water pressure? Is there anything we can do to solve this?? Any advice would be much appreciated!!! Cheers!!

Our Paloma MkV is playing up. The pilot light has a tendency to go out and when I tried to relight it last week there was a bloody big fireball! I've since had Buster over to have a look at it and he's got it working again. He advised that we replace it with a sealed unit, as we have a newborn on the boat. Also he said that it's not really suitable for our situation as we have a bath and the Mrs likes to indulge every so often. Apparently the Paloma isn't designed to heat a bath's worth of water, having a recommended run-time of about 5 mins? Can anyone advise on a good replacement? Obviously needs to be about the same size so that it fits in the same nook in the bathroom. OK, not sure why the image got rotated. Turn it clockwise in your mind.....

So I'm troubleshooting a heating problem. But a short story is in order to understand what I'm working with. The Paloma is old. It hadn't been used in a while and seemed to spark up fine. But little to no heat was produced. Or the taps would get hot at first and then go cold. The shower never got hot. The pilot light went from just being small for a day or two to going out seconds after being lit. There is a consistent drip from the heat setting knob. Its pretty rusty inside and corroded in some places. I blew out all the dust with a blow drier, which didn't change anything. There is no pilot light cleaner button. And if someone can direct me to some info on cleaning gauze filter I'd appreciate it. Can't find anything for this model. Also looks like the thermacouple was replaced not that long ago. Any help on how to move forward appreciated.
