Had a trip on the steam tug Daniel Adamson from Manchester to Ellesmere Port yesterday. What a great experience.

The weather was good, the crew were excellent, but best of all , the vessel is magnificent. The restoration is to a very high standard, machinery, decor , wood and steel finishes, first class. Short visits to the wheelhouse, engine room and stoke hold whilst underway were allowed. The sounds of the ship were very evocative: the heartbeat of the condenser air pump, the much used steam whistle, the rattle of the steering chains- powered from a "servo" steam engine in the wheelhouse, but the engine room telegraph bell meant most to me.
A proper ship with strong canal connections.
If you get the opportunity, I can thoroughly recommend a trip on "The Danny"
