Hi everyone i have an Isuzu 42 engine in my 65 ft boat; for many years it has run at 85C, but last autumn it was running about 45C. i have checked the temps with a thermo gun and the heat is going into the side tanks so i assumed the thermostat was sticking open and fitted a genuine new one, but the problem persists. i checked both thermostats and they open at about 85C. if i clamp the pipe to the side tank the temp rises to over 90C. so it appears that some how something has changed that lets water past the thermostat! has anyone any suggestions, please? thanks Roger

My Isuzu 42 will need a service soon (250 hrs) so oil and fuel filters are required. Apparently they are the same for the 25, 35 and 55 hp models, so does anyone with one of these engines know a good a source? OEM parts are expensive so I'm hoping there are decent alternatives available. I have done a search without much success (the posts I have found are confusing for a mere numpty), and I don't want to end up with parts that either won't fit or are sub-standard. The OEM part references are 894456-7412 (oil filter) and 897172-5491 (fuel filter). The air filter is 100066-4LS although I don't need one for this service. Any websites or suppliers in the East Midlands (Ashby or Tamworth area) would be appreciated.

HI. Can anyone help? My boat has am Isuzu 42. It has been diagnosed by RCR (two engineers now) as having a leaking head gasket. The water will boil over when the engine works harder and the system keeps getting full of air (exhaust gas I assume). I am trying to source a head gasket and head bolts. Does anyone know of a place to get these and at a decent price? I have heard that the right parts can be available cheaper at motor factors if you know the part numbers instead of using chandlers where the price seems to hiked. Thanks in advance Rob
