Hello, My narrow boat has the stove flue feed through the sidewall. It draws fine. Has anyone else heard or had this design? I've only seen them on wide beams.

Hey all, I hope you don't mind me posting here - it seemed directly relevant to the thread! I’m a producer with Barcroft Productions, a London-based production company. We produce a wide variety of factual full length documentaries for networks including the BBC, Netflix and Discovery. We’re currently making a homes series for a very well-known online platform and we’d love to include a person/couple who live on a residential boat in the UK. The only thing that makes it tricky is that it needs to be: 1. Ideally a boat that is still being worked on but that will be finished in August (although one that has just been finished might also work), and 2. The boat itself probably needs to be quite impressive, luxurious or visually striking on the inside for it to work for the series. Is anyone in the midst of a major build or refit that might fit the bill? Or know anyone else who is? We’re on quite a tight turnaround time so I’m open to suggestions, any help at all would be massively appreciated! Just to stress, it doesn’t necessarily need to be a lavishly expensive boat. We recently made a show for Netflix called Amazing Interiors that featured a young couple who lived on the Thames who had saved up to do a DIY refurb on their boat but used a lot of salvaged materials to cut costs, the main thing is that the end product looks really nice. Link here if you want to check it out, it’s the main story in episode one: https://www.netflix.com/title/80184067 If you're interested, you can contact me at thomas@barcroftmedia.com Thanks! Tom

Hi. I have a norwegian displacemeant / semi displacemeant Tresfjord 26 boat and im thinking about chancing the propeller. 8m long (waterline is 7.4m) and 2.8m wide, draft is 1m. Boat weights 2500kg fully loaded. Beta engine is rated 43hp @2800rpm, prm 150 gearbox is 1:2,09. It says on beta's website that the right propeller for beta 43 with gearbox ratio of 1:2 is a three blade 18x12. Would a 3 blade 18x13 propeller be over pitched? What kind of propellers do people have with this same engine and gearbox setup and what is the achiavable max engine rpm. I dont want a propeller that is oversized and i wont be able to reach 2800rpm My current propeller is a vetus 3 blade 16x14 and im getting maximum of 3000rpm and at cruising speed my propeller slip is 40% Regards Henri

Hi Everyone A similar question may have been posted before, if so just direct me to that thread. So to keep a long story short, I have recently put down a deposit on an Inland GRP Cabin Cruiser with the main intention as using as a 'liveaboard' (Bit crazy, I know). I planned to have a pre purchase survey to double check the boat is all good around the hull, however due to a long series of events i.e. high water levels, surveyors who don't cover GRP cruisers etc. I have since decided to carry out the survey myself, I have already booked and paid the fee to have the boat lifted out the water anyway. I know this might sound a bit daft since I have little to no experience about boats and only have a small understanding of internal combustion engines. My aim here is to assemble a list of things I should look out for such as common faults that are overlooked, areas on where to look and what in general to check. This is one of the few times the boat will be taken out the water I hope, so I want to make the most of it. For context of what I'm planning to do with the boat: I'm planning to have it moored at the marina for the majority of the time and using it as a 'floating apartment' using shore power. Leisure cruising is not a top concern right now. (I know you experienced boat goers are gonna be reading this thinking "he's way in over his head" however any advice, tips and pointers would be more than appreciated) Cheers!

Yesterday, in response to someones post about Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, I posted a video a short video of us crossing it last year. So, I thought you might also like to see a video of us passing through Chirk Tunnel and over Chirk Aqueduct a little while later the same day. We were lucky that a train was crossing Chirk viaduct at the same time!!

We are on the lookout for projects to cover for the second series of ‘My Floating Home’, which will be broadcast on More4 in the UK and FYI in the USA! In each episode we will follow the action as a client - with the help and expertise of architects and builders - designs, builds, and eventually moves into their new home on water. We will film the key stages of construction as well as short interviews with those involved in the build, as the project develops. Windfall Films, an award-winning TV production company based in London, would love to hear from you if you are currently (or about to start) building a home that floats on water! I have just bought a canal boat that sleeps 7, but the previous stove has been ripped out and so I am in need for a replacement. I'll be using my new boat to travel around Ireland's waterways this winter and so will need a stove that's cheap to run but also effective. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks to all.

Hi. I've just started a new blog about the Canals and the Nature that goes with them, but i'm struggling for avid readers, and thought that I should try to tailor the content more to what people want to see. So, if anyone could suggest good blogs about canals or anything that they think could help me out I would be ever so greatful. Cheers.
