Thanks DanSorry to hear that Ben, but good work!! Hope to see her about soon. She's a cracking boat and was always well presented in your custody. Enjoy land life.

Well I hate to say it, and its with heavy heart, but unexpectedly while delivering Bodmin to the new owner, we have now sold Banstead. A bit out of the blue, but in a way better than holding on for months, and it never even hit the open market!!! Its been a great 13 years on he canal and I know we'll be back one day, but for now we are taking a break on land. I'll keep an eye on the forum and will always have an interest with historic boats. Good luck to all you custodians! Ben

Very nice.
Just passed me today on the grand union heading south from berko, heading to the Thames to be craned out and taken back to t' north. Not many boats make you feel small on a town class! -
Excessive Drinking!

I've decided I want Bodmin... Unfortunately I've seem to have said that about most GU boats appearing for sale... where's that lottery win?!
Sorry Sold

"I do NOT need a butty, I do NOT need a butty......"
Actually, I have agreed to be reasonable about this and if a genuine Large Northwich butty comes up for sale, apparently then I can but it! .
Good luck with selling Bodmin, (not to me though!), and I hope the new path in your life is as enjoyable as your time with Bodmin.
Thanks Alan

That's a forum member's boat.
I don't know Ben well, but am surprised to see it for sale, as he seemed fairly committed to life afloat, and has clearly expended huge effort on Bodmin.
Nice boat! (Repeat "I don't need a butty, I don't need a butty, I..........").
There seems to be no obvious sign of the motor for sale, so assume they are keeping that?
You do need a Butty, You do need a Butty
Life takes you on different paths! Ours is just going on a different one for a while. Very sad to be selling her

Barry Hawkins?
Bates?

Trust me, that causes many, many problems!
I had one motor and two butties for a time and I can only agree with Alan's comment!
But if I was loaded I'd have many more. And my own marina to put them in.

Could be a Petter PJ2 I have a PJ3 and it has similarities

We have a 10gb plan with three. which is plenty of data for surfing the net of an evening. however when we watched a film with blinkbox, we used up all the data very quickly, then had no connection for the rest of the month. The good thing was that we didn't incur any additional fee for going above our limit.

I believe you are thinking of "Bainton" and (what is widely believed to be) "Ayr", (although lettered "Berkhamsted), moored offside on Weedon embankment?
Thanks Alan, I am thinking of them. Are they still there?
-
I haven't been that way for a while, but weren't they on the off side just north of Edgware and Balham. Covered by an old green tarp?

That's what usually happens with jobs when the wage is crap!

Interesting that all of the crewed photos are of Tom Hicks and none of the so called new owner!

Imagine a couple of fatties sitting on one side!how stable can it possibly be. Where does the fuel for the outboard go? Or is it electric! Wouldn't fancy having to row it!

First one Hawksbury I think
-
Bargain actually.
I bet it would cost a whole load more than that to build again from scratch.
MtB
I'd say that was true of most boats
-
I know it's not historic but a damn nice boat. Just a tad expensive for me though.
Lovely boat, but 175K!

Speak to someone with a widebeam and see if you can get a trip on their boat, more room on the back deck. An obese boat for an obese passenger!
Coat.......
