  1. Is that from Shakespeare or Cromwell? I agree with you but others see otherwise
  2. And I think more would subscribe to your view if they would let go of their prejudices a little and look at the issue afresh along with its attendant history and development of which Brown is just an instance no matter how significant.
  3. And I forsee many eventually acquiring 'home moorings' for licensing reasons but doing exactly what they do now. So apart from adding to CaRT's income and the boater costs what will have been achieved. fair for those who never moved perhaps, not so for many others?
  4. And there I disagree. It is not about getting away with something.
  5. And I think would result in loads of empty 'home moorings' and still congested 'hot spots'.
  6. I do not think many if any condone non moving boats pretending to be ccers but you do not need to a 'genuine CC', as you put it, to be compliant. I guess that is the nub of the discussion?
  7. Nobody has to have a home mooring now and that is the way it should stay. Forcing everyone to have a home mooring will not result in some utopia on the inland waterways.
  8. I consider mine relevant to the discussion and not so unrelated to your post as the Act allowed boating without a home mooring as opposed to continuous cruising. Does it matter?
  9. I understand that you cannot use the Human Rights Act to stay moored in one place or stay for more than 14 days for personal preference. That's all It does not have to.
  10. No. Brown's case/argument was so flawed that the Guidance was not needed to reject it. IMO of course
  11. There are those with and those without a 'home mooring' and it is a legitimate choice to not have. Forcing home moorings on all will not mean that all will be in there 'home mooring' as many have preferences for being elsewhere. So persecuting CCERs is inappropriate and it is about all boats adhering to visitor and 14 day mooring restrictions and if necessary, enforcement of. etc ETA I do not feel it is necessarily fair to force the cost of 'home moorings' on those who will not use them or may be unable to afford them in pursuit of some false equality.
  12. Remind me. Just what would this be a solution to and what would it cure?
  13. I tend to agree but is the element of it being taken further that might be blocked on appeal perhaps?
  14. Personally, I think that Mr Brown should give up now. The judgment is well reasoned and clear, and it reflects both the legislation and the intention behind it (both are important). Having read the judgment and relevant legislation, I suspect than an appeal will be futile. Personally, the Judges view is well reasoned and clear but the judgement is flawed being based on what BW has invented over the years rather than law. An appeal is hardly likely to reverse everything but it may do better at actually clarifying what is legal. Else it looks like there will be more lime green boats.
  15. However, having read the Judge's decision I would think that an appeal could well knock the over acceptance made of the interpretation, 'guidance', and its legitimacy as 'terms and conditions' of licence. Time will tell.

  17. A simplething to check is that the alt drive belt is not slipping because it is not tight enough. When running the engine you want to be charging the starter battery and house batts if there is a position for both otherwise wht you fear may happen. No start. If you are in the vicinity of other more experienced boaters try to get some hands on advice from them. They are usually keen to help
  18. Much more succinct than utter rubbish Exactly. There is no qualification.
  19. Chris, are you sure it’s the rich that have driven out the boaters you mourn or have they just out lasted/replaced them? I think it is more that the cost of boating and regulation has escalated. Take petrol & red diesel as one instance. Also, the norms have changed boats are 'homes from home' with similar costs. Your analogy does not quite equate. Boating of the original relaxed rule an cost free kind as working boating dissapeared is also gone.
  20. They do not have a "location" if they live on a boat
  21. Residential berths in marinas are a very small percentage aren't they?
