Arguing with a Christian is a lot like playing chess with a pigeon.
You could be the greatest player in the world but the pigeon will still knock over all the pieces, shit on the board and strut around triumphantly

I could name a few boats down our end that are "probably" like this.
But, however...... Why should we care? It's their boat/home, live and let live

"Hot Cross Buns" was actually the name of Jesus' first aerobics DVD.

Will you come back again on Monday??
Easter is shit. Whoever invented it should be nailed to a cross.

Funny as f**k. Good work

It isn't a problem and is a fact.
112 was adopted as a European standard,so if you are anywhere in Europe, you will reach a local operator, rather than a UK operator on 999.
That clearly fell short. I was in fact taking a half hearted pop at the sja
*steps back and awaits the flack*

Good it that's true but not what I was told by a St Johns Ambulance trainer
And there's the problem lol

Often though they just don't realise they are in the way - it usually just needs a polite 'can I ask you to stand over there while I open/shut this gate/operate this paddle.
I don't think anybody needs to get upset TBH.
Yeah......... Forgot the cheeky smiley there didn't I

it's not only boats where people invade your privacy. we have a house in wales and we often eat outside in the front garden to enjoy the sea view and have had people coming to look at our meal and asking if there is a menu! and i won't mention the time they were filming 2 doors away and we had half the world in the garden looking at the action.
Also had similar problems in our old house, coppers said I wasn't allowed to walk around my front garden with my man bag out as it was distressing for the public.
Joking aside, it happens everywhere. The only real time I get a tad upset is when people like to include my boy in pics, ignoring my bluster, I'm quite tollerant(sic).
Oh and when bystanders get in my way at locks!

Sorry to appear a bit dim but unless you are an RFD how do you have rifles (logged with the various forces.....) without an FAC.
Are they de-acts ? (in which case I dont understand the need to log them with the various forces)
Simple legal limit air rifles, its called being responsible. Should they get stolen, the police already have the numbers. Plus when I ring the ops room to let them know I'm starting a shoot, they know what I've got ( I'm quite the regular with them). Most forces welcome it too, I also let them know what county I'm in.
I've even been lucky enough to have a visit to make sure they are stored within the law
How do you time it so that you are cleaning your guns at the same time as people are thinking of having a nose?
Always a bank holiday lol
And how can you clean the rifle while stripping at the same time? Is it some kind of burlesque thing?
All in the timing, I'm still working on the act

.How does your FAC work on a boat ?
Its something I'm concerned about when we go full time CC.
If you move into another force's area are you not supposed to notify the local force ? (could be a bit of a hassle when on a CC)
Security - another question - presumably a standard cabinet(s) welded to the hull is satisfactory but what about access / vulnerability of the boat itself ?
My local FEO wants be to get barred windows on the house and a directly linked alarm if I go above 12 rifles
Not sure where I said I was FAC...........
I surrendered mine when we got the boat as I didn't want the risk. It is do able though and I believe there is a boat with a built in gun safe.
I am not FAC but still comply to the storage guidelines. Rifles are also logged with various forces in this area.
I think to have FAC on a ccing boat you need a contact address to register the rifles at and so they can contact you to find out where you are for a visit Ect

Finally to the berk cleaning his rifle in full view of everyone. You FAC? Not for long methinks if your FEO reads this. Christ shooting is hard enough in this country without prats like you using your rifles as some veiled threat to Joe public.
Boondock
At what point did I say full view? IF you were to actually see said rifle, your face would be pushed up against my window.
Oh and please refrain from callIng me a berk, I find it awfully offensive

The other tricks with people taking pictures is:
A discreet middle finger
Pulling the back of your trousers down so they get a bare arse
Leave something "hanging out" Nb not to be done when kids are about!
We can't really stop them taking pics but we can make them wish they hadn't
-
I find that stripping and cleaning rifles with the curtains open makes people not want to approach the boat. As did the rabbits hanging in the cratch whilst going up BOA lock, that one made kids cry

I'm not saying it's cold outside, but I've just tripped over some dog shit.

Fraid so..........

went to see the boat today... we're back to the drawing board looking for one as there's a LOT more work needs doing to it than was advertised and way too much for us to do in 3 months
and lol it's fine Chickadee! good to know someone else is thinking about it for the future too
Ours is 64ft with ready built nursery! And can be off in 3 months.......

If you see a yoof drop a coke/cider/stella can or any other "hard" litter, pick it up and smash them in the back of the head with it.
Soft litter like wrappers and big mac boxes you can pin them down and force them to eat it.
That'll teach them, society is far to soft nowerdays

IKEA is good for fitting out boat nurserys. It's difficult and fantastic bringing a child up on the canal. Although for us its been short lived as Nb whimbrel goes On the market next week.

Hi, Going slightly outside the first aid kit, keep some high factor sunscreen lotion as you can get double the sunburn due to reflection off water if fair skinned (I do!!) and stock a can of insect repellent.
On my last St Johns refresher course, the instructer made a point of using 112 for the emergency services,he gave a couple of very valid reasons for doing this,112 goes to the closest call centre as 999 could go anywhere and if calling from a mobile not knowing your exact location they can apparently find you.Maybe someone on the forum can clarify this.
AFAIK It's to bring us into line with the EU, 999 can also locate you but its not actually that exact.
