  1. Alan, can you give me any advice on how I'd know if it was either the pressure release valve or the button that could be leaking? Thanks in advance Paula
  2. Thanks for your responses so far. I find that it's leaked when I go to take the cassette out from under the toilet and it's in the divot where the handle is and where the pour out tube is. I'm beginning to think along the lines of Barry's suggestion which is there may be a problem with the seal between the bottom of the bowl and the outer case of the cassette. I can't see an actual seal attached to the bowl and have been looking on line at diagrams but can't see any seals? Paula
  3. Afternoon Everyone I have just trawled though the old posts about leaking cassettes but I think my problem is slightly different so I hope you don't mind me raising it again. I have 4 cassettes for my toilet, two are 4 years old and two are brand new. For some reason they are leaking - all 4 of them. I have recently been making sure that I lubricate the seals and this did seem to improve things for a couple of months but they have started leaking again. I understand about the replacing of the seals but the brand new ones leak also? Help - any advice is gratefully received. Paula
  4. Just wanted to put a little thank you message on here for everyones time and advice - it is much appreciated. Ashton flight opens tomorrow so two weeks from now we shall head off clockwise on our travels and see what happens. Lets hope the nice weather contiues through August - can't wait. Paula
  5. Thanks Paul C - I shall keep an eye on the stoppage - appreciate the heads up Thanks B0atman - shall keep that in mind - seems a good reason for doing it in that direction Thanks andyb116 - it's good to get a well rounded view of the situation.
  6. Hi Everyone I am looking forward to tackling the Cheshire Ring this August and am after some recent experiences from people with regards to travelling through Manchester. We are going to be a crew of two women and a 9 year old girl so not a big crew and not a burly man in sight. I have obvioulsy grown up hearing all the horror stories but having never cruised through Manchester i'm hoping to get some feedback on anyone's experiences in the last 12 months or so. As an aside - clockwise or anti-clockwise? We'll be starting from Northwich. Thanks in advance. Paula
  7. Got to be honest I've not looked at it yet - a friend of my Dad's is having double glazing fitted so the frames are being ripped out. I'm not sure whether the kind of size that the pieces are likely to be would be that useful to make something else with? But I'm no joiner!
  8. I had my multifuel Stovax Stockton 3 stove fitted in November and after plenty of practice am getting the hang of it now. Have just been offered some old mahogany window frames which being a hard wood I assume they should burn well. Only problem is they'll have been varnished over the years so how safe are they to actually burn?
  9. Good Morning Everyone! Firstly thank you for all you responses, your assistance for last night definitly helped! Here are my replys to your comments and questions individually LoneWolf - The coals are quite red but crumble to ash when i disturb them like you suggest. Tried putting on a few sticks and that seemed to do it then once i had some flames i put on some coal. Have come to work now so am just hopping i didn't smother it - will check it at lunch. Grace & Favour - i'm using a smokeless fuel as supplied by local coal merchant and i can't be more specific than that? If it helps it costs around £7.50 for a 25Kg bag. bottle - I think i may have been going wront in part as i opened up the vents all the way so was possibly blowing it out. My stove has the Tripple Airwash System so Secondary Air Control is underneath the box, Primary Air Control is near the bottom of the door and the Air Wash control just above the door. When you refer to vents which ones would correspond to the ones on my stove? Maybe you could Google a picture of the Stockton 3 controls so you could compare them to yours? dor - Does your Brunel have the Tripple Airwash System? When you talk about the bottom damper do you mean the Secondary Air Control which is underneath the box or the Primary Air Control which is near the bottom of the door? And does top slide mean the Air Wash control just above the door or something else. If you have a moment could you Google a picture of the Stockton 3 controls so you could compare them to yours? TO EVERYONE - I really am not stupid even if I might sound it (not that any of you are suggesting it either) but this is my first ever stove and the instruction booklet which came with it really isn't that clear for the un-initiated. Paula
  10. HELP! I have just had a Stovax Stockton 3 multifuel stove fitted and I am having trouble keeping it going all night. I manage to start a new fire and feed it just fine whilst I'm at home but think I must be doing something wrong as when I bank it up at night I am unable to get it going again in the morning by just putting coal on it. I'm guessing It's something to do with the vents and I'm expecting it's going to take some time to get used too but the temperature is falling and I need help and advice NOW please! Thanks Paula
  11. 'Nine of Hearts' you are completely on my wavelength - thanks for getting the gist of what I was asking. Guess I could use the sheets and have the valves turned on 'High' and will probably heat everthing up quicker then maybe turn them down for a while. I's more kind of heating of an evening time - I can keep them on full for the usual hour or so in a morning so I have hot water for a shower - maybe this will be enough of a balance between being on full and tickover. Just out of interest is an annual service enough or should it be more frequent? Paula
  12. I have a Webasto central heating system fitted on my new 57ft narrowboat and my question is with regards to making it as cost efficient as possible. The question I have may be a basic one but thought I'd ask the experts! If I turn the thermostatic valves down on the radiators will it use less fuel? I'm thinking of using some of those reflector sheets behind the radiators then turn down the valves but only if this is going to save money. Any information appreciated. Paula
  13. Hi Athy I was offered a build slot in May 2010 but with this nightmare economy it took till January 2012 to sell the house! Two failed sales in 2011 before I finally struck it 'third time lucky'. I kept my builder fully appraised throughout all my trials and tribulations so that when the sale eventually went through he was ready to jump straight onto my build as quickly as possible. Just the galley left to be fitted which is to be done at the end of the month so hope to move on on the 1st of April (and no, I'm not bothered that that's April Fools Day, I'm not superstitious - I sold my house on a Friday the 13th!) Can't wait! Thanks for the warm welcome Roger
  14. Hi Ann Have decided to call her 'Dreamcatcher' Paula
