  1. Thank you so much I was getting really worried that it was some new permament forum layout or something.
  2. Hi there Have been reading on the forum about Winter Moorings? How do you apply for these and how do they work. Regards
  3. Please help Went to use forum today and it is not displaying the posts like it did previously. Now it is displaying the main opening post for topic followed by a list of all other posts below it... Why is it doing this, how can I get it to display all posts in sequence.## Thank you for the help
  4. YEs BW are a public body, its run for 'the public' just like the government is voted in by the people to run the country for us. I dont care about their laws its on the peoples land and therefore the people have a right to it... Its a manner of principle not laws or rules and regulations.
  5. I agree BW has to take into consideration the views of many diffrent players, not least local residents, CC's tourists and also protect the beauty of the water way. However its a canal!!!!!! Canals are for boats, if your a local resident who dont like boats move way from the waterways. It's like moving to central london and complaining about the noise. At the end of the day it about balence, and at the moment in my view that the cannals are under used and lacking in facilities in London there is miles of space and some more space could be use to introduce further visitoring moorings with easy and would create little disharmony.. I think a good mixture of 24 hour, 7 daya and 14 is good. but not starting to reduce all the moorings to 7 days that will just make things worst... Everyone has a right to the cannal 'it is the peoples wealth for our common use. Dont care about legislation and stupid BW policies. The population of london is increasing by 10,000's every year and subsequently more people will be on the cannals, therefore more moorings and further balence needs to be given... If you feel that london is too full and all the rest of it.... Well take your boat and leave, go chill in the countryside where you can park your boat wherever you like and not see a person for days... While doing it start realising that international cities are tough places to get by in and that yes they are very very over crowded and finding accomidation, moorings, parking, a bentch to sit on is all very difficult. However im happy to walk down the cannal and see the few boats that are there with my dogs... They bring an ambiance...
  6. Hello, I couldnt agree more, there is loads of space going up and down the cannals... why start making the moorings 7 days... Leave them 14 and put more visitor moorings in... As a camden resident I would fully support that idea if they need some sort of planning permittion to carry it out. Or simply put more rings in and stick two fingers up to british waterways...
  7. In order to claim HB you need a residential mooring. If you have any other type of mooring or are CCing you have a right to go to the any council you have a local connection with and register with the homless persons department. If you roam the system without a permement residential mooring and have no other proprty to live in you are homless. Its like a traveller, they might have a van to live in, but without a place they can legally park it as a resident, they are in fact homless driving the streets and stopping in permitted and non permitted locations. Even if you have a mooring which you live on, if it isnt a residential mooring you have NO right to be living there and therefore are homless. Its like living in a squat, you might have somewhere to live, but you have no legal right to be living there, therefore can claim holessness. Once you are registered homless you can then access support from the council to get housing either oe of the following options. 1. council flat 2. funded to move into private rented 3. hostle or Temp accoimidation.
  8. Laughs when I say vintage I mean from the 1940's, narrow boat. Im assuming the hull requires painting with Tar? Otherwise it would leak?? Ok.. let me phrase this better... A steel narrow boat compared to a wooden narrow boat.. What would be the regular costs involved with the upkeep of the hull. Thank you in adviance for any advise.
  9. Whats peoples take on these, im assuming the hull must require some special attention? Can anyone give some advice? What costs this might involve? Cheers
  10. There is space avaliable this morning )
  11. Cheers for the kind words Leonie. Im am sure that in the coming year or so I will arrange the loan and move onto the canal its been a long term dream of mine. I will need to be within the M25 a percentage of the tiem, as this is where I have always lived (It will always be home) I have friends and family ere. However I also lookforward to the potential of spending time up on the Stort and river lea... Plus would like to venture out futher onto the Grand Union People have put me off, but for every negative comment I get a positive one )
  12. Ive got a gas frigde in me van... its pretty economical leave it on 12 hours a day... bottle lasts about 14 days. about 15 quid a bottle.
  13. I agree that people in middle tend to be failed by the state as far as JSA and other benfits go. It is impossible to live totally outside the system, even if you wanted to there would be legislation to prevent it.
  14. I think the problem is with people who hold views about people 'not paying there way' Is that they are in fact jelous, that they have worked hard some crazy hours all there life, only to see there precious taxes plunders into banks and politicians pockets. Live and let live, be happy for people that have found a way around this crap system and are trying to do things with there lives and better there self in what ever way. they are all welcome to my income tax, rather them than paying my local MP 80 odd grand a year in wages.
  15. country 4x4 we pay every day, everything we buy is taxed, fuel, food, earnings, even the dole goes towards earnt income if you get a job in that tax year. we are expected to pay river licences, council tax, tv licences, road tax, insurance... You name it, even the best tax dodger is paying into the system. While all this money gets paid in... The government spends our hard earned cash on iligitimate wars, military arms, their sicko expenses claims so they can live in 500 grand homes with cleaners. They make billions of pounds pay outs to rich bankers who have raped are economy and respect. These are failed businesses which have always profited from our hardwork. Then the little people, the vaste majority of whome cant even afford a decent place to live, not least because sucessive governemnts have sold off 'the peoples' housing stock do there best to get by as best they can. To be honest is one of these people get away with not paying there 500quids river licence... or manage to make an incorrect claim for the dole which is only 60quid a week... well they are welcome to it in my view... the real enermy is the politicians the bankers and the rich, who generally spend most of their lives dodging taxes anyhow... Sorry if i have made any generalisatiosn but that is my view.
  16. An electric fridge!!!! Is it possible to run an electiric fridge without 240v??? I though it was too engery hungry on a 12v systemm? Was thinking gas fridge in summer and storing stuff outside in a cool box during the colder months which is pretty much October thru to may. lol For power I was thinking. 1. Power for me laptop 2. 12vot 20watt lights through out the boat. I cant handle LED lights like being in space all ya life. 3. Radio 4. Maybe a camper van style washing machine although im not too sure how realistic I was being with that?? cheers for da advice. Dont think i would go for generator option... How much disiel does the engine use while static and charging for like 5 hours?
  17. Whats the sore with leccy on your boat if you do not have a 240v hook up. I understand that batteries get charged thru alternator when traveling, however what about when your static on one of those much debated 14 day visitor moorings? Is it economical to run the engine in order to charge the batteries?? I have solar panel on me van which can in the summer provide enought charge to use the lap top for a few hours a day, having lighting and some radio. But what about the winter?? Any advise would be great. Cheers.
  18. Anarchism is based on self organised communties, there would be nothing more natural than to set up a society of like minded people so that they can mutually cooperate. There is a boating forum on TRIBAL LIVING where peoples views of lthe world and how living outside of four walls can be a liberatring experiance freedom and respect for the environment. Unfortunatly few people use that part of the forum so new memebers would be greatly apprecited.
  19. What ive still gotta be scared on the BW Patrol Officers!!!! and the CCing do gooder patrol.... I thought I was allowed to travel in London for 26 days a year??? Thats sound full on how did you get the licence back??? in What way did you break the rules??? Becuase you were traveling within London for like months of the years and you need to be all over??
  20. 26 weeks a year, well that perfect... All you fools can chill out, I can live for free for 26 weeks a year in London   ;) Spend another 15 weeks a years chilling on the lea and stort.... Pop back to london for a few sneaky weeks on the precious central london mooring sites... Panik, im aam evil bloody minded Pirate and then spend the other odd 15 weeksperhaps visting the other end of the grand union or maybe get a leisure mooring where I can park the boat safe when im away for the odd ew week traveling (within a legal parking space) in my live in van. How does that all sound
  21. I think your being a bit extrem about the level of busyness on londons waterways... When i walk the towpath I sometimes done see a boat for ages... I understand that moorings are full... But in terms of space, the tow path does have room... if you concider london in general the towpath is practically empty... think of a london council estate, thats busy... the towpath is pretty spacious.. I think you lot are just spoilt and wanna feel sorry for yaselfs. Despite this comment im am not suggesting that the canals in london should be clogged with boats, just that more provision should be in place for further expansion of its use... Not just preserving it for the precious few
  22. Im very confused about this... So is it acceptable to move from each visitor mooring in london continiously through the city and then on wards to the lea and grand union? Or are you saying I spend like 14 days at victoria park then need to cruise outa town... or is there no hard and fast rule... To me it seems like everyone is reading from the same bible but interpreting it a bit diffrently sorry if this isa difficult subject for some people, but I am trying to fully understand the situation before I make any decision
  23. Well actually there is lots of traveling families living in london, some in car parks, some on disused public land, other in disused warhouse, others on authorised encampmenets. I disagree, I think people do have the right to live on the water ways... although i relaise this cannot be without boundaries... Surly does CCing not allow you to spend at least a percenage of your time (the actually amount of which is disputed) living on the london waterways and surroundign area.
