Double post.... ?

It's a springer...

What's that hole in the bow, below the waterline? And why was it craned out with all that tat on the roof and hanging down the sides??
-
Bought a pair of virtually new army boots (not even broken in) in a charidee shop, for a fiver. Office shoes should be kept in car or office.

if given a choice, i'd rather die in my sleep,

Rags, where are the rags? Will somebody think of the rags..?

So the boat has finally been moved? And the thread has degenerated into the usual personal abuse...
Predictable and boring.
(yes, I know.. I don't have to read this. I won't.)
As you where, ad nauseum

But if your untouched boat was moored between two boats which had diesel stolen, wouldn't it make sense to keep on mooring it the same way?
I'm a bit shocked that diesel was stolen in a marina, it's the type of thing I half expect to happen to my truck if I ever have to park overnight in Pikey Central, but I wouldn't expect it to happen in a marina.
Didn't know there was a 'pikey central', and if there was, why would you choose to park there.
On the other hand, I expect your truck to be safe when parked in a marina.

It's true Tony - plenty of equally big, or bigger boats involved last year.
Although three working boat Joshers took part, (one of which won), the ex "Grand Union" boat "Hampstead" was probably the largest of all, (GUCCCo boats are very tight in certain BCN locks, and need fenders lifted to get in).
AFAIK, most of these boats managed to avoid most of the obstructions, but be warned, based on last years evidence, if yours is a Hudson, they do seem to have a habit of finding the shallow bits that nobody else managed to, despite a shallower draught! I've no idea why that is?
ETA: If you are lucky you should find that there is someone with a nice basic boat that doesn't generally ground who will be helpful enough to pull you off any shoals.
Shurly not?? Boating with fenders down??

Anyone fancy running a book on when MtB will come on the thread to 'observe' that another thread has been been taken over by dogs?
Or just Come along, and bitch, just for the sake of it??

Phylis will be along in a minute to ask...
"do you have proof you were born?"
I post, there fore I am...

Tony has been a professional boater since before I was born. that doesn't excuse him from living in the 21st century, but it does mean that he knows what he's talking about...

Snip....
So you believe that CRT are taking advice from a chap located many miles away from the incident and whom they are in court again with in a couple of weeks?
Why not? Raising a sunken boat in a lock is pretty much the same wherever the lock is.
A bit like lift bridge operation I think.
-
Indeed the CRT stoppage notice states that boats are welcome to moor between lock 7 and lock 8/9 while waiting for the navigation to be reopened.
Apart from the fact that there is not much room between 7 and 8/9, and the area is frequented by a group of homeless people. And whilst I never had a problem with them (indeed, they like to help you lock, and usually offered to shut the gates on the way down..), I would not like to leave my boat unattended down there, and other may feel intimidated.
A saving grace is that there is now a floating pontoon on the river, but it is only short.
-
I don't know who knows what, or talks to who, but what I do know is that it is a disgrace that that boat is still in that lock. And ultimately, it is CRT's responsibility to open up the navigation. Either by letting the owner of the boat move, or do it themselves. This is just plain ridiculous, and if it wasn't so serious, would be funny.
There was (is??) a boat moored in the side pond by the hotel, perhaps the boats stuck on the river can be locked up and join it?

What happened to your offensive avatar luc?
It seems not everybody was loving it...
-
Typical. Those furthest away, keep on....
-
It's a simple concept......
Though maybe too complicated for some.
I give up, it's just not worth repeating things sometimes.
Indeed...
-
Knowing the lock keeper, I'm shure he's frustrated by this. Knowing CRT I'm not surprised this is still fecked..
-
Indeed, so why are you gobbing off about it?
I used to live here, and still have some local knowledge...
Unlike some..
-
As usual, it's those that don't live here, that have the biggest mouth....

I don't know, but niether does any body else, those affected (and those not I seems) seem to be enjoying a moan so perhaps they are best left to it.
In the absence of anybody asking along with an actual response rather than a suggested one we perhaps won't know.
Very true. I'm not living on that stretch anymore, so not personally involved, but the obvious lack of effort from anybody to move that boat tells me that CRT are not bothered to keep the navigation open (as they f-ing should), so where does that leave the future of Bath locks?

Deliberately blocking?
What are you on about?
They haven't move a boat that could easily be moved, to open the navigation

Luckily,on the K&A people don't waffle on about semantics, and simply burn the trees that either fall down by themselves, or get cut down by a contractor..
You'll be wearing reflective coats whilst operating locks next...
